PM Modi To Launch Projects Worth Over Rs 1 Lakh Crore In Rajasthan, Gujarat

The CSR Journal Magazine

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Rajasthan and Gujarat on Saturday to unveil and launch a series of infrastructure, energy, transport and manufacturing projects aimed at boosting economic growth and supporting the country’s long-term development goals under the ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ vision.

The two-state visit will see the Prime Minister inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for projects worth more than Rs 1 lakh crore, including a refinery-cum-petrochemical complex in Rajasthan, a semiconductor facility in Gujarat, a new airport terminal in Jodhpur, metro rail expansion projects and renewable energy infrastructure.

New Jodhpur Airport Terminal To Be Inaugurated

Modi will begin his visit in Rajasthan with the inauguration of the newly built terminal at Jodhpur Airport. Constructed at a cost of Rs 480 crore, the facility spans more than 23,000 square metres and has the capacity to handle up to 20 lakh passengers annually.

Designed to reflect Rajasthan’s architectural heritage, the terminal incorporates traditional features such as arches and jharokhas while offering modern passenger facilities.

Sustainability measures have also been integrated into the project, including energy-efficient systems, water conservation initiatives and green building practices. The terminal has been developed with the aim of securing a 5-Star GRIHA rating, India’s highest certification for green buildings.

The Prime Minister will also launch the modified UDAN scheme, which seeks to strengthen regional air connectivity across the country.

Under the programme, the Centre has allocated Rs 28,840 crore over the next decade to develop 100 aerodromes from currently unserved airstrips, build 200 helipads, provide operational support to regional airports and continue viability gap funding for airlines.

Barmer Refinery Among Largest Projects On Agenda

From Jodhpur, Modi will travel to Balotra, where he will dedicate, inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for projects worth around Rs 1.06 lakh crore before addressing a public gathering.

The highlight of the visit will be the inauguration of the 9 MMTPA refinery-cum-petrochemical complex at Pachpadra in Barmer district. The project has been developed as a joint venture between Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd and the Rajasthan government at a cost exceeding Rs 79,450 crore.

The refinery’s inauguration was originally scheduled for April but was postponed after a major fire broke out at the site a day before the planned launch.

Modi will also lay the foundation stone for the second phase of the Jaipur Metro Rail Project, which is estimated to cost more than Rs 13,000 crore.

The 41-km north-south corridor will feature 36 stations and connect Prahladpura with Todi Mod. The route will serve key residential, commercial and industrial areas, including Jaipur Airport, the Sitapura Industrial Area, the Vishwakarma Industrial Area, SMS Hospital and Vidyadhar Nagar.

Rail, Road And Renewable Energy Projects

The Prime Minister will dedicate the 104-km Churu-Sadulpur and Churu-Ratangarh rail doubling projects, completed at an investment of around Rs 900 crore.

He will also inaugurate the four-laning of the NH-125A Jodhpur Ring Road Section-II between Karwar and Dangiyawas, developed at a cost of nearly Rs 740 crore.

In the renewable energy sector, Modi will dedicate SJVN Ltd’s 1,000 MW Bikaner Solar Energy Project, which has been developed with an investment of approximately Rs 5,500 crore.

He will also inaugurate NHPC’s 300 MW Karnisar Bikaner Solar Energy Plant and a transmission line designed to evacuate renewable energy from the Rajasthan Renewable Energy Zone.

In addition, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for a 530-km power transmission system aimed at strengthening the state’s renewable energy infrastructure.

Semiconductor Facility To Begin Commercial Operations

Later in the day, Modi will travel to Gujarat to inaugurate the CG Semi Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facility in Sanand, marking the start of commercial production at one of the first four projects approved under the India Semiconductor Mission.

Built with an investment of more than Rs 7,500 crore, the facility is expected to manufacture up to five billion semiconductor chips annually when fully operational.

The plant will provide semiconductor assembly and testing services and cater to industries including automotive, telecommunications, industrial electronics, 5G technologies and the Internet of Things (IoT).

The projects being launched during the visit are expected to strengthen transport connectivity, expand renewable energy capacity, boost domestic manufacturing and accelerate the development of India’s semiconductor ecosystem, supporting the country’s broader goals of industrial growth and economic self-reliance.
