Union Minister Chirag Paswan, who leads the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), has condemned the Congress protest that took place outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence. He accused the opposition of favouring chaos in place of constructive dialogue. Paswan stated that the opposition often critiques the government for lacking communication, yet they seem absent when discussions are initiated.

He expressed his frustration by likening attempts to reason with the opposition to “playing the flute before a buffalo,” asserting that they are simply not receptive. According to him, the opposition’s true aim appears to be creating disturbances rather than resolving issues through meaningful conversation.

Concerns Over Key National Issues

The Union Minister raised concerns regarding significant topics, such as the potential increase in the number of judges in the Supreme Court. He mentioned that during a recent meeting with MPs from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Prime Minister Modi outlined the importance of prioritising India’s future, particularly for youth and students.

Paswan questioned the opposition’s tactics, stating that instead of addressing multiple issues collectively, they seem to select a singular point of contention before each parliamentary session. He encouraged them to follow through on the concerns they raise and to avoid abandoning topics mid-discussion.

He urged the opposition to provide constructive suggestions relevant to key national subjects, particularly those affecting farmers, students, and youth. He reinforced the government’s commitment to engage with any valid concerns presented, provided they are based on facts.

Detainment of Congress Leaders During Protest

During the Congress protest at Lok Kalyan Marg, several leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, were reportedly detained by Delhi Police. The demonstration was initiated to demand the resignation of Prime Minister Modi and Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Following their release, prominent opposition figures like Rahul Gandhi, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, and others were seen departing Chhatrasal Stadium, where they had been taken in under police custody. Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi also visited the Mandir Marg Police Station to support Priyanka Gandhi during her detainment.

In solidarity with the protest, other notable leaders such as Mallikarjun Kharge, KC Venugopal, and Pawan Khera participated alongside Kerala’s Chief Minister VD Satheesan and Karnataka’s CM DK Shivakumar. This protest action followed the Cockroach Janata Party’s ‘Sansad Chalo’ demonstration on Monday, which similarly experienced a heavy police response in Central Delhi.
