The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) held a significant rally in Anakapalli on August 10, demanding the resignation of Andhra Pradesh Education Minister Nara Lokesh. This event was part of a broader statewide initiative by the party, which accused Lokesh of mismanagement regarding the Mega DSC initiative, labelling it a “cheating DSC.”

The rally was spearheaded by Malasala Bharat Kumar, the YSRCP Anakapalli Constituency Coordinator, alongside District Party President Boddeda Prasad. Participants gathered at Sunkarametta before marching towards the main junction, expressing their concerns through vocal slogans and banners.

Despite facing obstacles from law enforcement, who halted the bike segment of the procession at Ring Road, YSRCP workers continued the demonstration on foot. They rallied under slogans demanding action on issues like fee reimbursement and unemployment allowances while insisting on Lokesh’s resignation.

Key Figures Address the Crowd

Upon reaching Four Roads Junction, rally leaders, including former MP Satyavathi, addressed the crowd. Boddeda Prasad and Malasala Bharat Kumar also took turns speaking, elaborating on the grievances affecting the youth and students in Andhra Pradesh.

Kumar, speaking to ANI, emphasised the ruling coalition’s shortcomings, alleging an inability to deliver on promised initiatives aimed at supporting job seekers. He articulated the frustrations of many who are still waiting for the promised benefits, particularly the unemployment allowance that had not yet been disbursed.

The rally’s purpose was to highlight the controversies surrounding the DSC exam held in 2025, which Kumar described as a significant scam that had left numerous aspiring candidates without employment opportunities, including those who ranked highly in the examination.

Calls for Investigation and Immediate Action

During the rally, party workers urged for an immediate Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the Mega DSC issue. Concerns were also raised regarding the government’s commitments on fee reimbursement for students and the provision of the promised financial aid of Rs 1,500 for every woman.

Leaders present reiterated the call for Nara Lokesh to assume moral responsibility for the ongoing issues and resign from his position. The emphasis was placed on accountability among the ruling coalition concerning the unmet promises to both students and job seekers.

A substantial number of YSRCP leaders and members participated in the rally, reflecting the party’s mobilised efforts to address these pressing issues affecting the community.

Overall, the rally not only served as a platform for expressing discontent but also aimed at pushing for significant changes in government policies to benefit the youth and students in the state.
