Nashik TCS Unit Faces Allegations of Sexual Harassment and Religious Coercion

The CSR Journal Magazine

A significant controversy has emerged in Nashik, Maharashtra, as numerous employees of a Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) unit of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) are reportedly alleging sexual harassment and attempts at forced religious conversion by some of their colleagues and team leaders. The investigation has led police to register nine First Information Reports (FIRs) based on complaints from eight women and one man. Authorities have arrested at least six individuals implicated in these claims, with additional suspects currently being probed.

The alleged incidents, involving victims aged between 18 and 25, are said to have transpired over a period of two to three years, beginning in 2022. Complaints detail serious charges including molestation, rape under false pretenses of marriage, and religious coercion. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted to thoroughly investigate the matter and has so far identified at least 12 individuals who claim to be victims of these alleged offences.

This case first attracted attention following a complaint that initiated a covert investigation. Investigators are now examining digital evidence alongside potential external links to the case.

Details of Allegations Against Accused Employees

The FIRs detail various incidents stretching across different time frames and involving multiple accused parties. One FIR alleges that between July 2022 and February 2026, Danish Shaikh, Tausif Attar, and Nida Khan allegedly made offensive remarks about Hindu deities, thus offending the religious sentiments of a female complainant who is also an employee. It is claimed that Tausif Attar promised to marry her and engaged in sexual relations with her while Danish Shaikh reportedly attempted to establish sexual intimacy within the workplace, resulting in considerable shame and distress for her.

Another FIR outlines incidents occurring between May 2, 2023, and March 19, 2026, where Raza Memon and Shahrukh Qureshi are accused of making intrusive and degrading remarks about a female colleague’s personal life, along with physically touching her. Despite her efforts to report these incidents verbally, the relevant company officials allegedly failed to act, further complicating the situation.

Further complaints indicate that between 2022 and February 2026, Shafi Shaikh allegedly made humiliating remarks and engaged in unwanted physical contact. Tawuf’s actions reportedly included staring at inappropriate areas and making demeaning comments regarding a colleague’s marital status. Such behaviour has raised significant concerns about workplace ethics and employee safety.

Investigational Measures Taken

Additionally, the situation has sparked discussions regarding the responsibility of corporate entities to maintain a safe workplace free from harassment and religious coercion. As investigations progress, it remains crucial to ensure that all parties involved are treated fairly and that appropriate action is taken against any wrongdoing.

As the case unfolds, local authorities and community leaders are monitoring its developments closely to better address issues related to workplace harassment and religious intolerance in the region.
