Manipal Health Enterprises Makes Strong Debut; Shares List At 11% Premium To IPO Price On NSE, BSE

IPO Overview

Manipal Health Enterprises successfully debuted on the stock market on Wednesday, with its shares listing at an 11% premium compared to its initial public offering (IPO) price. The stock commenced trading at Rs 652 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE), reflecting a 10.51% increase from the IPO price of Rs 590. On the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), trading started at Rs 655 per share, marking an 11.02% premium. At the upper end of the price band, the IPO valued Manipal Health at over Rs 77,600 crore.

The IPO witnessed robust demand, with subscriptions reaching 4.92 times by the final day of bidding on Friday. Data from the NSE indicated that bids were received for 44.3 crore shares against the 9 crore shares available for purchase.

Investor Interest

The Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIB) segment was particularly receptive, with a subscription of 8.25 times. In contrast, the non-institutional investors (NII) category experienced 1.02 times subscription, while the retail investor segment was subscribed at 93%.

Prior to the IPO, the Bengaluru-based hospital chain secured Rs 4,167 crore from anchor investors, including major entities like the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority and Allianz Global Investors Fund.

Details of the Public Issue

The public issue comprises a fresh equity share allocation of up to Rs 8,000 crore and an offer-for-sale (OFS) of up to 2.16 crore shares by existing shareholders.

In terms of the utilization of funds from the fresh issue, Manipal Health Enterprises plans to allocate Rs 5,378 crore for repaying or prepaying borrowings related to its subsidiary, Manipal Hospitals Pvt Ltd. An additional Rs 574 crore is earmarked for acquiring a minority stake in its step-down subsidiary, Sahyadri Hospitals Pvt Ltd, with the remaining portion designated for general corporate purposes.
