Sonakshi Sinha Supports Jharkhand Students Protest Over JPSC and JSSC Exams

The CSR Journal Magazine

Sonakshi Sinha has voiced her support for students protesting in Jharkhand concerning alleged irregularities in the JPSC and JSSC examinations. The actor shared her thoughts on social media, highlighting the distress faced by the students. The protests, which began in late July, have attracted significant public attention as students demand a thorough investigation and reforms in the recruitment process.

In a recent Instagram post, Sinha captioned a reel, “All eyes on Jharkhand Students,” signalling her solidarity with the demonstrators. She expressed concern over the ongoing struggles faced by students in the country and questioned when such issues would come to an end.

Additionally, Sinha shared another reel in her Instagram Stories featuring a protester who interviewed with Lallantop. The student raised pertinent questions about why Jharkhand’s issues rarely receive national coverage, contrasting the state’s mineral wealth with the hardships faced by its residents.

Details of the Ongoing Protest

The protest commenced on July 29, when students initiated an indefinite sit-in at a stadium in Ranchi. They are advocating for an independent investigation into alleged discrepancies in the 14th JPSC examination, JSSC-CGL, and other recruitment tests. As of now, the protest has entered its seventh consecutive day, displaying the students’ determination and frustration over the recruitment processes.

Hundreds of participants have rallied, calling for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the reported irregularities. The students have outlined specific demands, including the cancellation of the 14th JPSC Combined Preliminary Test, held on April 19, as well as an independent inquiry by central agencies, such as the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate.

Moreover, they are advocating for the introduction of a fifth option on OMR sheets labelled ‘not attempted’, which they believe would provide a fairer assessment method in recruitment examinations. These protests have reignited discussions surrounding the integrity of competitive examinations and recruitment procedures in Jharkhand.

Previous Support for Student Movements

Sonakshi Sinha’s backing for the students in Jharkhand is not her first engagement with educational issues. She has previously lent her voice to student protests against NEET-UG exam irregularities and significant issues surrounding paper leaks. Through her social media presence, she has amplified calls for accountability and expressed her solidarity with students vocalising their concerns.

The actor’s recent support for the Jharkhand students has further highlighted their issues and demands, potentially drawing more public and media attention to their plight. As the situation develops, the involvement of public figures like Sinha may influence the discourse surrounding educational integrity and student rights within the state.

As protests continue, the Jharkhand government faces mounting pressure to address the demands made by the demonstrators, compelling a thorough examination of recruitment practices in the region. The students’ initiative illustrates their commitment to advocating for a fair and transparent system, which they believe is essential for the future of education and employment opportunities in Jharkhand.
