Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated several developmental initiatives during a visit to Khatima on May 25. These projects, located at the Block Office campus, are part of the government’s efforts to enhance education, empower youth, and improve public amenities. The total expenditure on these projects was approximately ₹89 lakh.

Among the key inaugurations was the modern “Didi Ki Library,” which alone was constructed at a cost of ₹55 lakh. In addition to the library, the renovations and upgrades to the gymnasium building cost ₹7.50 lakh, while the Block Auditorium was modernised for ₹26.50 lakh. According to Chief Minister Dhami, these facilities are expected to be instrumental in aiding students, youth, and the wider community, fostering educational and social progress in the area.

During the inauguration, Dhami emphasised the crucial role of education in societal advancement. He noted that the Didi Ki Library will serve as a vital resource for students and young aspirants preparing for competitive exams, equipped with modern amenities conducive to learning. The facility aims to establish a supportive environment that can help students achieve their goals.

Focus on Women Empowerment and Educational Resources

Chief Minister Dhami highlighted that many talented students from rural areas often lack access to quality educational resources due to inadequate facilities. He expressed that the new library is designed to cater to these needs, providing valuable books and study materials to help youth effectively prepare for competitive examinations and higher education.

Moreover, the library will be managed by women associated with self-help groups, aligning with the government’s commitment to women’s empowerment. This initiative will not only support educational growth but also contribute to enhancing the income and skills of women in the community.

Dhami reiterated that the state government is dedicated to offering opportunities for every young individual in Uttarakhand based on their talents and capabilities. As part of enhancing educational infrastructure, there is also an ongoing effort to improve access to modern learning facilities, which will significantly benefit thousands of students in the coming years.

Promotion of Fitness and Healthy Living

During the event, the Chief Minister addressed the renovation and modernisation of the gymnasium building, labelling it an essential stride for youth fitness. Dhami stressed the importance of physical health, stating that a healthy mind resides in a healthy body. The newly equipped gymnasium aims to encourage young people to pursue fitness, sports, and an overall healthy lifestyle.

He also mentioned that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, initiatives promoting fitness, such as the Fit India Movement, are gaining traction across the nation. The Uttarakhand government remains dedicated to expanding sports and fitness facilities, motivating youth to embrace a drug-free and disciplined lifestyle.

Dhami concluded by stating that the government strives to develop various sectors, including education, health, sports, employment, and infrastructure, ensuring that development benefits all segments of society. He expressed special commitment to Khatima, reiterating that it represents his dedication to enhancing the region and will have continuous development efforts to foster comprehensive progress.
