A trainee IPS officer from the 2022 batch of the Chhattisgarh cadre has come under scrutiny following allegations of accepting a bribe amounting to Rs 1 crore. The complaint also implicates two police personnel, including Assistant Sub-Inspector Praveen Kumar Rathore and constable Anshul Sharma. It was during this tenure that the allegations regarding cyber fraud first emerged.

The disbursement of the alleged Rs 1 crore bribe was reportedly not executed in a single transaction. Instead, the funds were transferred through informal channels, specifically via hawala, in two separate instalments of Rs 50 lakh each, carried out in May 2026. This method has raised further questions regarding the financial activities tied to the case.
