NTA Releases NEET UG Re-Test Answer Keys and Initiates Challenge Process

The CSR Journal Magazine

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the availability of the provisional answer key for the NEET-UG 2026 re-test, which was conducted on June 21. This announcement opens the opportunity for candidates to challenge any answers they believe may be incorrect. The challenge window will remain open until June 28 at 11:50 PM, providing a limited timeframe for eligible participants.

Alongside the answer key release, the NTA has established a dedicated portal where candidates can submit their bank account details for processing fee refunds. This initiative is part of the agency’s efforts to enhance the examination experience for students.

The NEET-UG re-test was necessitated by directives issued concerning the examination process, and it saw participation from over 22 lakh candidates, making it one of the largest entrance assessments for undergraduate medical courses in India.

Procedure for Challenging the Answer Key

Candidates who wish to raise objections to the provisional answer key can do so through the NTA website from June 25 to June 28. To challenge an answer, participants must visit neet.nta.nic.in, input the Question Paper Series Code listed on their test booklet, select the questions they wish to contest, and upload any supporting documents from NCERT or other recognised textbooks.

A challenge fee of Rs 200 is required for each question contested, and candidates are advised to thoroughly review all information prior to submitting their objections, as modifications will not be allowed after the final submission. This one-time facility is aimed at streamlining the challenge process.

If a challenge is accepted following a review by subject experts, the challenge fee will be refunded to the candidate. This policy is intended to encourage candidates to use the objection process thoughtfully and responsibly.

Details for Fee Refund Submission

The NTA has also provided guidance for candidates on how to submit their bank details for fee refunds. Those who participated in the NEET-UG 2026 re-test must submit their banking information through the official portal by June 30 to ensure timely processing of refunds.

To avoid any potential delays in receiving refunds, candidates are urged to enter their information accurately. This move by the NTA is geared towards facilitating a smoother financial reconciliation process for those eligible for refunds.

In connection with the answer key and challenge process, NTA is conducting a concurrent review of the objections alongside the evaluation of OMR answer sheets. This strategy is aimed at expediting the declaration of results, which is a priority for the agency.

NTA has stated that the process of expert review is running in parallel with the OMR scanning to allow for timely results. Candidates requiring further assistance can reach out to the NTA helpline at 011-40759000 or email neetug2026@nta.ac.in for support.
