Union Health Minister JP Nadda is scheduled to visit Yazali in Arunachal Pradesh on August 6 to examine the areas impacted by recent flash floods and to engage with local residents affected by the disaster. This visit is part of his three-day official tour of the North-East region, which commenced on August 4. Nadda will also hold a review meeting with state officials during his visit to evaluate the ongoing health conditions and relief efforts in the region.

Recent Activities in Nagaland

On August 5, JP Nadda inspected the landslide-affected regions in Mon district, Nagaland. His assessment included visits to the impacted sites and meetings with bereaved families. During this visit, he interacted with displaced residents at the Konyak Union Office, providing reassurance of the Central Government’s commitment to their well-being. He conveyed sympathy from the Prime Minister to the families of the victims of the landslide, acknowledging the community’s resilience and efforts in mobilising relief activities.

Nadda praised the initiative taken by local authorities, including the District Administration and various local organisations, for their effective management of emergency relief camps. He expressed gratitude towards the rescue teams, including the District Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, and State Disaster Response Force, along with civil society groups and volunteers who have supported recovery efforts.

Konyak Union President, Yamao Konyak, reflected on the visit, stating that it offers a sense of solidarity to Mon district during this challenging time, reinforcing the idea that they are not alone in facing the aftermath of the disaster.

Visit to Sivasagar, Assam

In addition to the trip to Mon, the Union Minister visited flood-affected regions in Sivasagar, Assam, where he surveyed the damage caused by flooding. Accompanied by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, he met with families who suffered losses due to the floods. During his time there, Nadda articulated the cooperative efforts of both the Central and State Governments in addressing the plight of the flood-affected individuals.

He affirmed that the authorities are committed to ensuring that no lapses occur in the ongoing relief and rehabilitation initiatives. Nadda stressed that extensive assessments of the flood damages are underway, led by teams of Central Government representatives, who are actively working to extend financial assistance to the affected states.

The Minister’s engagements in the region reflect a coordinated effort aimed at restoring normalcy and addressing the immediate needs of citizens impacted by these natural disasters. The visits highlight the importance of government response in times of crisis, aiming to bolster public confidence in relief operations.
