Apple is reportedly preparing for one of its major launch events of the year, with the iPhone 18 Pro series expected to be unveiled on September 7. Although the company has yet to confirm this date officially, a recent report from Bloomberg indicates that employees have been notified about the upcoming event. Alongside the iPhone 18 Pro, the event is anticipated to showcase a foldable iPhone, new models of Apple Watch, and various other hardware products.

In anticipation of the event, Apple has initiated a programme called the “Event Support Experience Program,” inviting retail employees in the United States to assist during the launch. Those selected will be responsible for activities such as guest check-ins and crowd management. Applications are open until August 8, with chosen employees being notified by August 17. This approach is consistent with Apple’s past practices to involve retail staff in significant product launches.

Leaked Specifications for iPhone 18 Pro

The iPhone 18 Pro and its counterpart, the iPhone 18 Pro Max, are expected to maintain a design reminiscent of last year’s models, which includes a raised rear camera module. However, the new models may come in updated colour options such as dark cherry red, light blue, and a more subdued grey finish. Reports suggest that the Pro Max could be slightly thicker and heavier to accommodate a larger battery.

Display dimensions are anticipated to remain stable with the iPhone 18 Pro featuring a 6.3-inch screen and the Pro Max featuring a 6.9-inch display. Upgraded LTPO+ display technology is also expected, promising enhancements in brightness and energy efficiency. A noteworthy design modification might include a reduced size of the Dynamic Island by approximately 35 per cent, a change that may involve repositioning Face ID components beneath the screen.

Furthermore, the camera system is said to be receiving significant upgrades, including the introduction of a variable-aperture main camera. This innovation aims to automatically adjust the light entering the sensor, potentially enhancing low-light photography and improving the quality of portrait shots by minimising overexposure.

Projected Pricing for Indian and US Markets

Speculations surrounding the pricing of the iPhone 18 Pro models suggest an increase compared to their predecessors. Currently, the iPhone 17 Pro retails for Rs 1,34,999 in India, while the iPhone 17 Pro Max starts at Rs 1,49,999. Reports hint that a price hike of up to Rs 20,000 could be anticipated, with some retailers estimating an increase as high as Rs 30,000.

In the US, similar price adjustments are being discussed, with rumours indicating that the new Pro models may cost up to $300 more than previous versions, attributing this rise to the increasing costs of manufacturing and components. However, Apple has yet to verify any of these claims, and customers are advised to consider this information as provisional until an official announcement is made.
