Mumbai to be pothole-free soon: Chief Minister Eknath Shinde at The CSR Journal Excellence Awards 2023

Chief Minister of Maharashtra Eknath Shinde graced The CSR Journal Excellence Awards 2023 as the Guest of Honour which was hosted at the BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange) on December 09. Addressing the gathering at the event, the CM spoke about his commitment towards making Mumbai city free from potholes in the next couple of years.
“We are also working to make Mumbai’s roads potholes-free. We have undertaken a 6000 crore project and work for the first phase has already begun. Very soon we will start with the second phase of this project. In the next 2-2.5 years entire Mumbai will be pothole-free,” Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed at the event.

Chief Minister’s reply to RJ Malishka

Taking a light-hearted jibe at RJ Malishka, who played host for the event, the CM remarked, “Malishka had made a song about the potholes in Mumbai’s raods, but we will not give her a chance to do that once again. Very soon, Mumbai will be pothole-free.”
Addressing a gathering of over 600 citizens including senior bureaucrats, public representatives, social activists, youth leaders, artists, members of India Inc. and students at the 6th edition of The CSR Journal Excellence Awards, the Chief Minister also spoke about other ongoing projects aimed at the city’s infrastructural development.

“Maharashtra is the growth engine of our country and the state is leading in infrastructural projects in India. We are working on several projects currently for development. I would like to mention here about a project under which the coastal highway which is aimed at reducing the traffic congestion of Mumbai. It will be operational by the end of this January (2024) from Marine Drive to Worli and it will expand more in the next year. The MTHL (Mumbai Trans Harbour Link) which runs from Sewri to Nhava Sheva, is the single longest sea bridge in the country stretching 22 kms. The distance which takes 1.5 to 2 hours to cover now, will take only 15 mins to cross and we will start this within a month. This is a gamechanger project,” he expressed.

The CSR Journal Excellence Awards was also attended by Shri Rajnath Singh, Defence Minister, Government of India as the Chief Guest.
Shri Sudhir Mungantiwar, Minister of Forest, Cultural Affairs & Fisheries, Government of Maharashtra, Shri Kumar Vishwas, Indian Poet, Motivator and Social Reformer and Dr. Shrikant Shinde, Member of Lok Sabha & Founder – Dr. Shrikant Shinde Foundation were felicitated at the awards.
Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan along with his ex-wife Reena Dutta and daughter Ira Khan graced the event as Ira was felicitated with ‘The CSR Journal Inspiring Youth Award 2023’ for her notable work towards mental health through Agatsu Foundation.
Former Indian Cricketer Yuvraj Singh was felicitated for his work through the YouWeCan Foundation for empowering people to defeat cancer through awareness, early detection, patient support and survivor empowerment.
Bhumi Pednekar, Indian Actress and National Advocate – UNDP India for SDGs, was honoured with ‘The CSR Journal Climate Champion of the Year Award 2023’.
