These remarks align with the concerns voiced earlier by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Trk, who last month urged the authorities to maintain calm and foster an environment conducive to free expression. The UN’s call for thorough and impartial investigations into the fatalities of protesters demonstrates its commitment to human rights in the region.

Recent Developments in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir

The situation in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir has deteriorated in recent months, particularly ahead of the regional elections scheduled for July 27.
