India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has made a public appeal to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for help in acquiring land in his home state, saying he wants to shift his base from Delhi and build his first house in Uttarakhand.

Pant, who is currently in Sri Lanka with India’s Test squad, said he had spent the past three years searching for a suitable property but had been unable to find one that met his requirements. He said his intention was not merely to own a home, but to return to his roots and contribute to the state.

Pant Appeals to Uttarakhand Chief Minister

Addressing Dhami directly on X in the early hours of Saturday, Pant said he had been looking for a property that would allow him to establish a permanent base in Uttarakhand.

“I have been trying to buy land to shift my base from Delhi to Uttarakhand and I couldn’t find anything facilitating and big to live here. I love my Uttarakhand,” Pant wrote.

He then requested the Chief Minister to intervene in the matter and help him acquire land in the state.

“My humble request to you is please help me in land acquisition… I wanna move back to my native place to help and build around Uttarakhand and I want to shift back to my Pahadi people. Please look into this matter, it’s been 3 years,” he said.

‘I Want to Buy It From Government’

Pant later clarified that he was not asking the government to provide him with land free of cost. Instead, he said he was willing to purchase the property from the government at the applicable rates.

“A gift would be lovely for representing our state at the highest level internationally, but if you allow me I wanna buy it from Government and on their rates. At least I can have my first house built in my own state,” Pant wrote.

His appeal quickly attracted attention on social media, with the cricketer’s direct request to the Uttarakhand government becoming a talking point among fans and other users.

Pant’s Uttarakhand Roots

Pant was born in Roorkee in Uttarakhand’s Haridwar district and began his cricketing journey in the state before moving to Delhi to pursue the sport professionally.

Although he continues to represent Delhi in domestic cricket, Pant has maintained a strong connection with Uttarakhand and has frequently spoken about his attachment to his home state.

His latest appeal comes shortly after reports that Pant was Uttarakhand’s highest individual taxpayer for the 2025-26 financial year. He reportedly paid Rs 23.84 crore in income tax, making him the state’s highest individual taxpayer for the second consecutive year.

Pant’s Earnings and Commercial Profile

Pant’s income during the assessed period included his BCCI contract, match fees, Indian Premier League earnings and commercial endorsements. He was bought by Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 27 crore and was a Grade A player under the BCCI contract during the financial year.

The India batter has also been associated with brands including Adidas, Dream11, SG, Thums Up, Cadbury, boAt, Noise, Zomato, JSW Cement and MakeMyTrip.

For Pant, however, the latest appeal appears to have a more personal purpose. After building his cricket career away from home, he now wants to establish his first house in Uttarakhand and return closer to the place where his journey began.
