The CSR Journal Magazine

The Indian Army’s Corps of Signals Dare Devils team has successfully achieved a new world record inside the Atal Tunnel, marking a significant milestone in honour of Kargil Vijay Diwas. This accomplishment was part of the nationwide motorcycle expedition, “Wheels of Valour: Sanchar Shakti,” which aims to pay tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of the Indian Armed Forces.

On June 30, the expedition reached Palchan, and on July 1, the team executed their world record attempt in the Atal Tunnel, renowned for being the longest highway tunnel situated at over 10,000 feet. The team’s performance saw ten riders completing the 9.8-kilometre stretch of the tunnel in just 9 minutes and 47.97 seconds.

This remarkable feat showcased not only the participants’ exceptional riding skills but also required extraordinary precision, balance, and teamwork under challenging high-altitude conditions. Furthermore, it highlighted the professionalism and dedication of the military personnel involved in this landmark achievement.

Comprehensive Planning and Safety Measures

Extensive planning and rigorous safety protocols ensured that the record attempt was conducted smoothly. All operational guidelines were meticulously followed, ensuring the safety of the riders, support staff, and road users. The Dare Devils collaborated closely with local civil administration, police authorities, and road management agencies to uphold these high safety standards during the event.

Lieutenant General Vivek Dogra, Sena Medal, Signal Officer-in-Chief, expressed profound gratitude towards various organisations including the District Administration, Himachal Pradesh Police, and the Border Roads Task Force for their cooperation and support in facilitating the world record attempt.

This accomplishment stands as a symbol of the Corps of Signals’ dedication to operational excellence and discipline, reflecting their commitment to pushing the boundaries of adventure while adhering to military standards.

Promoting Adventure and National Service

The “Wheels of Valour: Sanchar Shakti” expedition aims to inspire a spirit of patriotism and national service across India. In addition to breaking records, the initiative promotes physical fitness, mental resilience, and leadership among participants, aligning with the Indian Army’s broader objectives.

As part of this campaign, the team is visiting war memorials, military establishments, and educational institutions, engaging with veterans and young citizens. These interactions intend to cultivate a legacy of service and encourage youth participation in nation-building efforts.

Moreover, the expedition embodies values of teamwork and discipline, motivating the next generation to follow in the footsteps of those who serve the country honourably. The world record attempt at the Atal Tunnel transcends mere motorcycle riding; it acts as a powerful reminder of the courage and commitment that define the Indian Armed Forces.
