This development was announced on Saturday following discussions between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten during Modi’s two-day visit to The Hague. This visit forms a part of a broader tour of Europe aimed at enhancing India’s partnerships with key European nations.

During the discussions, Modi and Jetten reviewed collaboration across various sectors, including trade, defence, technology, water management, clean energy, healthcare, and education. The meeting resulted in the signing of several agreements designed to deepen cooperation in these key areas.

Modi acknowledged the significant progress made in India-Netherlands relations over the past decade, categorising the Netherlands as a pivotal European ally. He highlighted the shared democratic values and the strong economic ties that underpin the relationship, emphasising the mutual respect and cooperation in critical areas.

Prime Minister Modi actively encouraged Dutch firms to design, innovate, and manufacture within India. He introduced an appealing vision of India as a nation of “scale and stability,” seeking to integrate global firms into India’s growth narrative. Modi emphasised that there has never been a better time for such collaborations.

He highlighted the continuous reforms which have enhanced the ease of doing business in India, making it attractive for international investors. Modi spoke about the sectors opened to private investment, including space, mining, and nuclear energy, strengthening the overall business climate.

In a significant development during the visit, an agreement was signed between Tata Electronics and ASML, which aims to establish India’s first front-end semiconductor fabrication plant in Dholera, Gujarat. Both leaders also supported the prompt implementation of the India-European Union Free Trade Agreement, signifying a shared commitment to further economic collaboration.
