In a recent session of the Lok Sabha, Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju announced that the government is open to discussing the NEET UG paper leak allegations. He emphasised that the government has formally extended an invitation for discussions over the past three days.

Rijiju informed members that the discussions would be conducted according to parliamentary rules and suggested that leaders from all political parties convene to determine the timing and structure of the discussions.

Opposition Voices Concerns Over NEET and CBSE Paper Leaks

In reaction to Rijiju’s statement, Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, asserted that the NEET paper leak issue transcends political interests. He highlighted that the concerns of students should take precedence and called for greater accountability from the government. Yadav urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address the matter in the House.

As the discussion evolved, opposition members raised their voices in protest, leading to an adjournment of the House until 2 pm. The atmosphere in Parliament was charged, with multiple opposition leaders expressing their commitment to addressing the matter thoroughly.

Congress MP KC Venugopal indicated that the opposition had reached a consensus on continuing to demand discussions regarding the alleged examination paper leaks involving both NEET and the CBSE. He reiterated their demand for the resignation of the Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, during the deliberations.

Opposition’s Strategy and Protests in Parliament

Speaking to journalists following the session, KC Venugopal outlined that the opposition had conducted meetings to solidify their approach. For three consecutive days, motions for adjournment focused on the NEET and CBSE leak allegations have been presented, exemplifying the opposition’s determination to address the issue.

Venugopal stated that the opposition was prepared to engage in meaningful discussions if the government accepted their adjournment motion suggestion. Members of the opposition were seen demonstrating within the Parliament, dressed in black attire as a symbol of their protest against the government’s handling of the allegations.

Leading figures in the protest included Rahul Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who all voiced their support for the students affected by the leaks. Priyanka Gandhi noted that students have legitimate demands and are advocating for their rights, underscoring the necessity for a comprehensive response to the situation.
