The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) recently held discussions with Union Health Minister JP Nadda to convey a series of demands aimed at addressing various grievances. During the meetings, chief spokesperson Saurav Das emphasised the urgency of three primary requests, notably pressing for the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Das stated these discussions took place on July 20, and included prominent activist Sonam Wangchuk, who is reportedly hospitalised.

Key Demands Outlined

Among the demands articulated by Das were the immediate release of activist Sonam Wangchuk, the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan from his cabinet position, and compensation of Rs 1 crore for families of NEET aspirants. Notably, reports suggest that over 20 candidates have tragically lost their lives during the exam process. “The protest will persist until our demands are met,” Das asserted during the meeting, highlighting the urgency of the situation.

During the meeting, which reportedly lasted approximately four hours, Das and CJP leader Ashutosh Ranka presented these demands in a structured manner. Nadda acknowledged the proposals and indicated that he would take them into consideration at the appropriate level. However, he did not make any commitments regarding the demands during this meeting.

Das further elaborated that the peaceful protests would continue until they secure the resignation of Pradhan. He reiterated the importance of the demands for both the affected families and the protesting group, maintaining pressure on the government to respond effectively.

Government’s Response to Protest

Following the meeting, JP Nadda took to social media platform X to communicate that the government had engaged in dialogue with the protesting delegation. According to his post, discussions commenced at approximately 11:50 AM and unfolded in a positive manner. Nadda noted that the delegation submitted a written petition around 4 PM, thereby formalising their demands.

Nadda urged the ongoing protesters to cease their sit-in and cooperate with local authorities to help restore normalcy in the area, indicating a willingness to engage further with the protesters if tensions can be eased. He emphasized that the meetings had taken place in a cordial atmosphere and were aimed at finding a resolution.

As the situation evolves, Nadda’s call for cooperation suggests a potential pathway for dialogue and resolution. However, details regarding any specific commitments from the government remain sparse, and the protestors maintain their position until their three core demands are met.

Claims of Violence Denied by Authorities

In a separate development, Delhi Police responded to allegations from the CJP regarding violence during the protest. The police described claims that a 12-year-old girl had been assaulted and that dozens of protesters suffered serious injuries as unfounded. The police have urged the public to refrain from sharing misleading information on social media, asserting that reports of a girl named Geetanjali sustaining severe injuries are not accurate.

Law enforcement officials labelled the circulating information as false and asserted their intent to ensure that correct information prevails amidst the ongoing demonstrations. The police’s response indicates a broader effort to manage public perception concerning the protest and any associated claims of violence.

The directorate’s focus remains on maintaining public order while addressing the grievances being expressed by the protesters. As of now, the protests continue, with demonstrators committed to their demands and the authorities carefully monitoring the situation.
