The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) is demanding the resignation of Andhra Pradesh Education Minister Nara Lokesh amid allegations of irregularities in the District Selection Committee (DSC) recruitment process. YSRCP spokesperson Konda Rajeev made this assertion during a media briefing, emphasising the need for accountability in light of these claims.

Rajeev pointed to the previous political accountability demonstrated during the NEET controversy, where Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned following similar allegations. He questioned the apparent double standards at play, as Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is reportedly protecting Lokesh amid growing scrutiny.

Rajeev expressed concern that the alleged DSC scam has disillusioned a significant number of unemployed youth in the state, stating that the YSRCP has provided substantial evidence to support their claims. He described the current situation as one where evasion and a lack of transparency are taking precedence over necessary accountability.

Calls for a CBI Investigation

Alongside Lokesh’s resignation, Rajeev has urged for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the alleged irregularities surrounding the DSC recruitment. He underscored the importance of a thorough investigation to restore faith in the recruitment process and ensure justice for the affected youth.

Former MP Talari Rangaiah reiterated the demand for Lokesh’s resignation, pointing out the various irregularities reported, which include allegations concerning the setting and potential leakage of question papers. Rangaiah argued that, like Pradhan’s resignation was deemed necessary during the NEET incident, Lokesh should likewise step down amid the escalating concerns regarding the DSC process.

According to Rangaiah, the problems identified extend beyond just paper leaks and encompass the entire recruitment process, which appears to have been compromised. He asserted that the integrity of educational assessments must be upheld, and failed procedures reflect poorly on governance.

Potential Agitation and Public Sentiment

Rajeev warned that if Lokesh does not resign, the YSRCP plans to initiate a public agitation alongside affected students and youth, who have been significantly impacted by the alleged irregularities. He stated that the government’s failure to conduct a single examination with integrity demonstrates a broader inefficiency within the administration.

The spokesperson highlighted that such corrupt practices could have lasting repercussions for generations, ultimately diminishing trust in educational and recruitment systems. He expressed concern that ongoing issues could erode the future prospects of the youth in Andhra Pradesh.

The YSRCP’s strong stance reflects a growing demand for transparency and accountability in the state’s recruitment processes, which, according to party officials, are crucial for ensuring a fair and just environment for aspiring candidates.
