Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced the transfer of Rs 146.32 crore in pension benefits to 9,87,017 beneficiaries as part of various pension schemes under the Social Welfare Department. This transfer, which occurred on August 8, 2026, was facilitated through a Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. The initiative aims to ensure that financial support reaches eligible citizens effectively and promptly.

During the announcement, the Chief Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to catering to all segments of society, focusing on timely and transparent delivery of pension amounts directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts. He underscored that the government is determined to ensure that welfare schemes are accessible to the most vulnerable populations.

CM Dhami stated that the state’s objective is to enable those in need, such as elderly individuals, widows, and persons with disabilities, to receive their pensions without the inconvenience of making repeated visits to government offices. He emphasised that every eligible citizen deserves to receive their entitled benefits with dignity and in a timely manner.

Details of Pension Disbursement

The Social Welfare Minister Khajan Das confirmed that the Social Welfare Department is responsible for administering this pension instalment for July 2026. The department released pensions to a total of 9,87,017 beneficiaries, which includes approximately 2.15 lakh pensioners under the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) of the Ministry of Rural Development at the Government of India. Payments for these beneficiaries are being processed using the SNA-SPARSH system.

Among the total beneficiaries, 6,15,628 individuals under the Old Age Pension Scheme received a monthly payment of Rs 1,500, which totals Rs 92.34 crore. In addition, a total of 2,36,983 beneficiaries received Widow Pension payments at the same rate of Rs 1,500, amounting to Rs 35.54 crore in total disbursement.

Furthermore, the Disability Pension Scheme provided Rs 13.36 crore to 89,128 beneficiaries, with each receiving Rs 1,500. The Farmer Pension Scheme benefited 27,288 individuals who received Rs 1,200 each, resulting in a total distribution of Rs 3.20 crore. Additionally, 8,284 beneficiaries under the Abandoned Women’s Pension Scheme were also granted Rs 1,200 each, amounting to Rs 99.408 lakh.

CM Dhami, reflecting on the government’s efforts, affirmed that providing social security to vulnerable sections of society is a crucial aspect of governance. He mentioned that the government remains focused on strengthening and empowering Uttarakhand, aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, particularly the principles of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayas.

In his remarks, he noted that the development of the state is intrinsically linked to the welfare of all communities. By ensuring these pension benefits are distributed efficiently, the government aims to instil trust and reliability in the public welfare system.
