The collapse of a residential house in Sirmaur district, Himachal Pradesh, led to the death of two individuals and serious injuries to two children. The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) reported that the incident took place on August 9, 2026, in the vicinity of Didag, located in the Rajgarh subdivision. The home belonged to Bhim Singh, who resides in Chhichhadiya, Mauza PC Didag.

During the incident, four people were trapped inside the dwelling. Local villagers promptly assisted in rescuing them. Tragically, the deceased have been identified as 60-year-old Nirmala, the wife of Bhim Singh, and 32-year-old Pooja, his daughter.

Additionally, two children sustained significant injuries in the incident. Kumari Heera, aged two, is the daughter of Pooja, and Abhiyana, also aged two, is the daughter of Arun, who is Bhim Singh’s son. Both children were taken to Civil Hospital in Rajgarh for medical treatment and are currently under care.

No Other Casualties or Losses Reported

According to the DDMA’s report, there were no additional missing persons or individuals stranded in the collapse. Furthermore, no livestock losses were noted, nor was any damage to public property or infrastructure reported in connection with the incident.

The initial information surrounding the house collapse came from the Village Revenue Officer (VRO) of Didag, who operates under Rajgarh Tehsil and Sub-Division. The official confirmed that local authorities are taking necessary follow-up actions, and an ongoing investigation is being conducted to determine the cause of the collapse.

As the region grapples with the aftermath, local authorities continue to monitor the situation to ensure adequate support and resources are provided to affected families.

Impact of Ongoing Monsoon Rains

The incident occurs amid widespread disruption caused by heavy monsoon rains across Himachal Pradesh, which have claimed over 70 lives in recent weeks. According to the latest data from the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), there have been significant challenges regarding public safety and infrastructure.

As of August 11, 2023, a total of 204 roads remain blocked across the state as a result of rain-related incidents, including two crucial national highways, NH-154 and NH-21. Mandi district has been particularly hard hit, with approximately 80 roads currently closed.

The cumulative damage related to the ongoing monsoon has exceeded Rs 910 crore over a span of 43 days. This extensive impact has disrupted several systems, including transportation, power supply, and water infrastructure, as well as private properties affected by landslides and cloudbursts.

Local administrations are working diligently to restore services and support those in affected areas, while acknowledging the challenges posed by the continuous heavy rainfall. The situation remains under close observation with further updates expected as recovery efforts proceed.
