The recent PGDCA examination at Vishwa Bharati College in Sikar was cancelled following an unexpected inspection by a flying squad from Jagatguru Ramanandacharya Rajasthan Sanskrit University. The inspection team documented multiple instances of students allegedly engaging in cheating activities during the examination.

According to reports, the vigilance team observed students collaborating in groups to solve the examination paper rather than completing it independently. This behaviour deviated from the examination’s expected integrity, leading the team to take immediate action.

During their inspection, the team discovered printed answer sheets and other materials that suggested cheating. The process was videographed for evidence, which was subsequently submitted to the university administration for review.

Immediate Actions Taken By University Authorities

In light of the findings, the university promptly cancelled the first-shift PGDCA examination at the Sikar centre. However, the second-shift examination proceeded as scheduled. University officials began evaluating the implications of the incident, which included the potential suspension of Vishwa Bharati College as a designated examination centre.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Madan Mohan Jha issued directives to the examination department to enforce stringent measures against the college involved. In addition, Controller of Examinations Dr Shubh Kumar Jha confirmed the cancellation order for the first-shift exam.

The institution plans to enhance scrutiny over examinations held at the college by appointing one of its vigilance team members as an observer for future assessments. This decision reflects the university’s intensified commitment to curb examination malpractices.

Concerns Regarding Examination Security Raised

The Sikar incident marks not the first occurrence of alleged cheating within a short time frame. Just five days earlier, on August 7, a similar mass-cheating event was reported during a PGDCA examination at MD PG College in Lalsot. This recurrence has led to heightened concerns surrounding examination security and the oversight mechanisms in place at affiliated institutions.

Currently, a thorough investigation is underway at Vishwa Bharati College to ascertain the extent of involvement by the students and the broader role of the examination centre in the matter. The university’s final course of action will hinge on the outcomes of this investigation.

The cancellation of the examination and the proposed suspension of the college signal a serious approach from the university regarding examination integrity. Officials have emphasised that any individuals found culpable will face appropriate actions as stipulated under existing regulations.
