Pune IT Firm Thynk Technology India Abruptly Shuts Operations, Leaving 700 Jobless

The CSR Journal Magazine

Over 700 employees, including software engineers, recent graduates, and interns, have lost their jobs following the unexpected closure of Thynk Technology India, based in Pune. Reports suggest that the company shut down its operations without prior notice, leading to numerous complaints regarding unpaid salaries and bounced cheques.

Located in Hinjawadi Phase II, Thynk Technology India had previously conducted extensive recruitment campaigns throughout 2025, attracting many young professionals with promises of career advancement and stable employment prospects in Pune’s burgeoning IT sector.

Initially, staff reported timely salary payments and stipends for interns, fostering a sense of security. However, delays in salary disbursements began to surface earlier this year, with employees indicating that payments due from February onwards were not made on time.

Employees Seek Clarification Amid Payment Delays

Many employees attempted to engage with management for clarifications regarding salary delays but were only met with assurances that the issues would be resolved soon, once internal financial procedures had been completed. Despite these repeated promises, salaries remained unpaid, and the situation escalated when staff discovered that the office had abruptly ceased operations.

Efforts to contact senior management for updates proved fruitless for numerous workers, who found themselves in a state of uncertainty about their employment status. To exacerbate matters, multiple employees reported that cheques issued by the firm were dishonoured when they attempted to encash them, causing further financial strain.

This has left many individuals grappling with significant challenges, including meeting household expenses, paying rent, and addressing loan repayments. The growing discontent has led the Forum of IT Employees (FITE) to take up the cause, helping those affected seek redress.

Authorities and Organisations Respond to Complaints

Pavanjeet Mane, president of FITE, stated that numerous employees reached out for assistance after failing to receive payments or responses from the company’s management. He characterised the situation as a serious matter involving alleged financial mismanagement that has impacted hundreds of individuals.

According to Mane, some workers were reportedly asked to deposit around Rs 15,000 for the security of laptops and office equipment, raising additional concerns about company practices. The situation has been reported to relevant authorities, including the Labour Department, for further investigation.

In response to the unfolding events, affected employees have initiated complaints with the police and the Maharashtra Labour Commissioner’s office, seeking intervention and assistance in recovering unpaid salaries. Senior Police Inspector Balaji Pandhare of Hinjawadi Police Station confirmed that complaints are currently under review, with a preliminary inquiry in progress.

Officials from the Labour Department, including Deputy Labour Commissioner Nikhil Walke, have also confirmed receipt of multiple complaints. The department is conducting a comprehensive investigation into the allegations concerning unpaid wages and recruitment practices, as stakeholders in Pune’s IT community await clarity on their financial futures and potential employment opportunities.
