iPhone 18 Pro Expected to Have Major Price Increase, Details Here

The CSR Journal Magazine

The price of the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro may witness one of the largest increases in recent years, according to various reports. Initially, analysts predicted only a slight uptick in costs, but new assessments suggest a potential rise between $250 to $300 (approximately Rs 28,000) for the Pro models. Customers interested in purchasing the device this September might have to prepare for a heavier financial commitment.

Industry insiders, including analysts from GF Securities and Morgan Stanley, have cited a convergence of factors leading to rising production costs for Apple. A significant contributor is the anticipated utilisation of the new A20 Pro chip, which will be manufactured using TSMC’s advanced 2nm process, resulting in increased manufacturing expenses compared to the current 3nm chip.

In addition to the chip’s cost, the smartphone sector is facing a surge in DRAM and NAND memory prices. This price escalation is primarily driven by the heightened demand for artificial intelligence hardware. When combined with other premium components, like enhanced battery capacity and upgraded camera systems, Apple’s overall manufacturing costs for the iPhone 18 Pro are poised to escalate further.

Apple’s Position on Cost Increases

While earlier reports indicated that Apple might absorb some of the rising production costs, recent findings by analyst Jeff Pu suggest otherwise. It appears increasingly likely that Apple will pass a significant portion of these increased expenses onto consumers. Should this occur, the iPhone 18 Pro could set a record as the most expensive non-folding iPhone in the company’s history.

As of now, Apple has not officially confirmed any of these anticipated price changes. The highly awaited unveiling of the iPhone 18 Pro series is scheduled for September, with September 9 being the most frequently mentioned launch date.

In addition to pricing concerns, expectations are high for the iPhone 18 Pro’s array of enhancements. The device is anticipated to feature various upgrades across design, display, processing power, battery life, and camera technology.

Rumoured Features of iPhone 18 Pro

The design of the iPhone 18 Pro is expected to maintain the fundamental style introduced with the iPhone 17 Pro, albeit with refinements such as a smaller Dynamic Island and slimmer bezels. Colour options are anticipated to include Dark Cherry, Light Blue, Silver, and Dark Grey.

In terms of display, Apple is likely to retain the 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch OLED screens but is reported to upgrade them to more efficient LTPO+ technology. This advancement is expected to enhance brightness and energy efficiency, contributing to a better user experience.

Regarding processing capabilities, the new A20 Pro chip, coupled with 12GB RAM, is projected to significantly improve performance. This combination aims to bolster thermal management and provide enhanced support for features within iOS 27. Additionally, the battery performance is expected to receive a considerable boost, particularly for the Pro Max variant, promising longer usage times thanks to the power-efficient A20 chip and advanced display technology.

Moreover, a variable-aperture 48-megapixel main camera is speculated to be one of the major improvements, with enhancements for the telephoto lens and a new 24-megapixel front-facing camera also on the horizon. Apple is purportedly set to introduce its C2 modem, aimed at enhancing 5G performance and connectivity options.

If the current predictions hold true, prospective buyers in India may be looking at a price range of Rs 1,39,900 to Rs 1,49,900 for the iPhone 18 Pro. In contrast, the Pro Max variant may retail between Rs 1,59,900 and Rs 1,69,900, although none of these figures have been confirmed by Apple as of yet.
