Ram Kapoor Shares Personal Struggles During Bade Acche Lagte Hain

The CSR Journal Magazine

Actor Ram Kapoor recently made significant personal revelations during the episode of the reality show Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa. While participating in an eviction task, he disclosed his experiences relating to depression and health issues during the production of his acclaimed series Bade Acche Lagte Hain. This confession reportedly marked the final secret he shared on the show.

Kapoor stated that he faced profound struggles in 2011, which led to a deterioration of his behaviour, contributing to the show’s eventual conclusion. He noted that he had kept these issues hidden, even from his wife, Gautami, and their children, until now.

Health Challenges and Behavioural Changes

During his candid conversation, Ram highlighted how his physical and mental health declined while filming. He referenced a period marked by excessive weight gain and serious medical complications, including high blood sugar levels and the need for insulin. According to him, these health challenges arose as he tried to manage the pressures of fame and love he received from audiences due to his appearance.

Ram shared that he was working long hours, often extending to 14 hours daily, despite being advised by doctors to address his rising health risks. He expressed regret that at the time, he was unwilling to alter his lifestyle, tempted by the fame and financial rewards that accompanied his position as a leading television star.

Kapoor’s behavior during this challenging time included arriving hours late to filming and engaging in alcohol consumption on set. He acknowledged the impact of these actions on his career and described himself as having become a “monster” due to his declining behaviour.

Impact of Fatherhood and Family

In the episode, Ram mentioned his children as a crucial motivation for him to persevere through his struggles. He claimed that, if it weren’t for them, he might have resorted to drastic actions similar to those of fellow contestant Harshad Chopda, who discussed his own past suicidal thoughts. Ram articulated that being a father instilled in him a sense of responsibility and purpose, stating he “didn’t have the right to stop” his life.

Reflecting on his journey, Kapoor expressed that he has achieved a positive outlook on life, more than a decade later, and he felt it important to finally share his past with his family. He commented on the significance of having his wife and children witness his growth and recovery.

Previously, Ram had also recounted experiences of childhood trauma and the loss of his father, who opted for a peaceful end during his final days battling cancer. Ram described the intimate moments spent with his father, emphasising the lessons learned from such experiences. He elaborated on how witnessing death closely redefined his perspective on life.

Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa Enters Finale Week

The reality programme is set to crown its winner on August 5, 2026, after what has been a compelling season filled with personal revelations and emotional engagements.

As the finale draws closer, viewers are left anticipating further developments in the series, reflecting on the transformative journeys of the contestants, particularly Ram Kapoor’s poignant narrative of struggle and redemption.
