TV Actor Aditi Sharma Files Domestic Violence Complaint Against Husband and In-Laws

The CSR Journal Magazine

TV and film actor Aditi Sharma, aged 29, has lodged a formal complaint alleging domestic violence against her husband, Abhineet Vidyanand Kaushik, along with her mother-in-law, Urmila Kaushik, aged 65, and sister-in-law, Kirti Kaushik, aged 29. The complaint was filed at Goregaon Police Station in Mumbai, prompting the police to register a First Information Report (FIR) and initiate an investigation into the matter.

Details of Allegations Against the Accused

The FIR was officially registered on July 31, 2026, citing multiple allegations against the three individuals. Aditi has claimed that she faced not only physical and mental harassment but also has alleged assault, verbal abuse, character defamation, and misappropriation of her stridhan (bridal jewellery). The FIR incorporates several sections from the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Sections 3(5) related to common intention, 316(2) concerning criminal breach of trust, and 85 on cruelty by a husband or his relatives.

According to Aditi’s statement, her acquaintance with Abhineet began during an online acting course in June 2021, leading to a friendly relationship that evolved into cohabitation in Goregaon West from September 2024. The couple formally married on November 12, 2024, with parental consent from both sides. However, Aditi claims her husband’s attitude shifted drastically just days after their marriage.

She alleges that Abhineet began to object to her clothing choices and instigated arguments over trivial matters. The complaint further reveals that he failed to contribute to household expenses and instead would ask her for money, thereby altering the dynamics of their relationship. Aditi reported that a disagreement over coffee on January 1, 2025, deteriorated into an altercation involving verbal abuse, during which her husband questioned her fidelity and monitored her phone communications.

In-Law’s Involvement and Allegations of Harassment

Aditi has also implicated her mother-in-law Urmila and sister-in-law Kirti in her complaints, claiming that they retained possession of her wedding jewellery, which includes valuable items like gold chains, rings, a diamond ring, a mangalsutra, and bangles. She has expressed that despite her repeated attempts to reclaim these belongings, her requests went unheeded.

Furthermore, Aditi stated that when her mother-in-law and sister-in-law intervened in their disputes, they allegedly sided with her husband, which she claims resulted in further harassment towards her. This intervention has compounded her feelings of isolation and distress amidst the ongoing domestic turmoil.

As the investigation unfolds, law enforcement officials are expected to apply the appropriate legal frameworks to ensure that all parties involved are heard. The case is currently under the scrutiny of the investigative staff at Goregaon Police Station, and further developments are anticipated as the process continues.
