NEET UG 2026 Exam Today, From 2 PM to 5 PM Across 551 Cities in India

The CSR Journal Magazine

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is conducting the NEET UG 2026 examination today, 3 May 2026, marking a significant moment for around 22.79 lakh candidates who have been preparing for this event. This examination is known for being one of the largest and most competitive in India.

The exam is scheduled to take place in pen-and-paper mode from 2 pm to 5 pm, with eligible candidates permitted compensatory time until 6 pm. Examination centres have been established across 551 cities in India and 14 overseas, utilising more than 5,400 venues.

Candidates are required to report between 11 am and 1:30 pm, as entry gates will close promptly at 1:30 pm, with no exceptions made for latecomers. Those wearing traditional or religious attire are advised to arrive earlier to accommodate additional security checks.

Necessary Items for Examination Entry

To enter the examination venue, candidates must present several essential documents: a printed admit card, a valid original photo ID, and two passport-sized photographs. Strict restrictions are in place regarding prohibited items, including mobile phones, smartwatches, calculators, Bluetooth devices, wallets, jewellery, and metallic objects. Adhering to the specified dress code is crucial for ensuring a smooth entry into the examination hall.

This year’s examination features enhanced security measures, including frisking through metal detectors and biometric verification via Aadhaar. CCTV cameras are installed at every centre, with live monitoring being conducted from control rooms to maintain oversight.

Even if biometric verification fails, candidates will still be allowed entry. They will need to sign an undertaking and undergo manual verification as an alternative. To safeguard against any potential issues, a multi-layered security system is in operation, ensuring the secure transport of question papers and the deployment of over 6,000 observers along with 2 lakh personnel.

Guidelines for NEET UG 2026 Candidates

Candidates are encouraged to arrive at the exam centre well in advance of the reporting time to mitigate any last-minute stress. It is advisable to keep essential documents such as the admit card, ID proof, and photographs organised in a clear folder.

Double-checking the exam centre address a day before is recommended, as reliance solely on maps may lead to confusion. Candidates should refrain from heavy meals prior to the exam; instead, it is better to opt for lighter meals and stay hydrated. Prohibited items, including mobile phones, watches, and jewellery, should not be brought into the examination venue.

Maintaining composure is advised, and candidates should avoid discussing difficult subjects immediately before the examination begins. Reading the instructions on the question paper thoroughly before attempting any answers can also prove beneficial. Effective time management during the exam is crucial, and candidates should not linger on any single question for too long. Strict adherence to invigilator instructions is necessary to avoid complications during the exam.

Comfort and support facilities are available at the centres, which include power backup, fans, drinking water, sanitation, and medical assistance. Candidates are permitted to bring a transparent water bottle into the examination hall. Special provisions are made for diabetic candidates, who are allowed to carry fruits such as bananas, apples, and oranges, as well as sugar tablets.

For any inquiries, candidates can reach out to the NTA helpline available from 10 am to 5 pm at 011-40759000 or 011-69227700, or they can email neetug2026@nta.ac.in. Official updates will also be posted on the NTA website.
