A 37-year-old man reportedly took his own life in Meerut district, Uttar Pradesh, after suffering from intense mental distress due to an alleged job fraud that resulted in a financial loss of approximately Rs 6 lakh. The individual, identified as Manmohan Singh alias Monu, resided in Mawana Khurd village. He was found hanging at his home on Thursday morning, prompting an investigation by local authorities.

Following the discovery, police arrived at the scene to conduct an examination, and a forensic team was summoned to gather evidence. The victim’s body was subsequently sent for a post-mortem examination to ascertain the cause of death. A video message recorded by Manmohan shortly before his passing was also recovered during the inquiry.

In the video, Manmohan accused Kunal Singhaniya, a resident from the Inchauli area, of deceiving him with empty promises of securing a job. He alleged that the individual had taken large sums of money from him while failing to deliver any employment opportunities or return the funds.

Victim’s Allegations Against Accused

In his video, Manmohan described the situation as part of a larger conspiracy, expressing deep remorse for the trust he placed in Singhaniya. He stated, “I have fallen prey to a huge conspiracy… My life has been ruined.” He indicated that he had been experiencing prolonged depression as a consequence of the fraudulent scheme.

Manmohan elaborated on the alleged coercive tactics used against him, stating that Singhaniya manipulated him into various compromising situations. He indicated that he was taken to Lucknow to solicit favours regarding women, further asserting that Singhaniya would later try to shift the blame onto him for any repercussions concerning these interactions. “I know he is going to blame me for spending the money on my personal pleasures,” Manmohan stated in the video.

The emotional distress reportedly led to Manmohan feeling trapped and tormented by threats of blackmail from Singhaniya. He pleaded for help in the video, citing the unbearable pressure he was under, and expressed uncertainty about what action to take in response to his situation.

Community Reaction and Legal Action

The incident prompted a significant reaction from the community, with grief-stricken family members and local residents gathering outside the Mawana police station. They protested against the authorities, briefly blocking local roads, until police intervened to restore order. The demonstrations underscored the community’s outrage and concern over the circumstances surrounding Manmohan’s death.

In the wake of these events, a formal complaint was lodged by Manmohan’s brother, Jagmohan Singh, leading to a case being registered against both named and unidentified individuals under applicable provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Authorities have confirmed that investigations are ongoing, with efforts being made to locate Singhaniya and determine the wider implications of the alleged fraudulent activities.

Officials have assured that they are treating the case with urgency, focusing on uncovering all details related to the incident as well as the processes that facilitated such fraudulent actions. As the investigation unfolds, the community continues to seek justice for Manmohan Singh and raises awareness regarding job fraud and its devastating impacts.
