The ‘Tiranga Yatra’ was launched by Gujarat’s Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, who hoisted the National Flag in Raipur, Ahmedabad. The event aims to promote a sense of patriotism among citizens and is held to commemorate the 150th anniversary of ‘Vande Mataram’ while celebrating Independence Day. This initiative also expresses gratitude to the nation’s soldiers who protect its borders.

Organised under the banner of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, the event saw attendance from various dignitaries, including Minister of State for Urban Development, Darshana Vaghela. Sanghavi noted the significance of the Tricolour in uniting all Indians, from the remote corners of Kashmir to the southern tip of Kanyakumari.

He emphasised that it is the duty of every citizen to acknowledge the contributions of the armed forces and urged the public to honour their service. The Deputy CM encouraged everyone to rally behind the spirit of patriotism, capturing this sentiment through the slogan ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’.

Mass Participation Highlights Strong Patriotism

The ‘Tiranga Yatra’ witnessed overwhelming participation, with reports indicating that over one lakh citizens took part. Residents, including youth, women, and the elderly, proudly carried the Tricolour as they marched through the streets, celebrating Ahmedabad’s spirit of nationalism. The Deputy CM expressed that the day was one of pride and unity for all participants.

According to the Gujarat Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the procession commenced from Big Bazaar-Raipur, adorned in the colours of the Indian flag. The route showcased a vibrant patriotic atmosphere, marked by various cultural programmes dedicated to the spirit of the nation.

As part of the celebrations, eleven welcome stages were set throughout the city, including key locations such as Raipur Cross Roads and Sarangpur Cross Roads. These stages featured performances of notable patriotic songs, adding to the atmosphere of national pride and unity.

Grand Finale and Tributes to National Icons

The event culminated at Sarangpur, where a grand fireworks display marked the conclusion of the Yatra. Officials, including the Deputy CM, paid floral tributes to the statue of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, recognising his contributions to India’s nation-building. This act underscored the Yatra’s commitment to honouring India’s diverse heritage and history.

Citizens actively participated, waving the Tricolour as they chanted ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’, signifying a collective expression of patriotism and unity in Ahmedabad. Mayor Hitesh Barot opened the event with a welcome address, acknowledging the significance of the day while inviting community engagement.

In attendance were various dignitaries, including prominent leaders and local representatives from diverse sectors. Their presence highlighted the involvement of multiple communities within the city, reinforcing the message of inclusivity during the celebrations.
