Jaipur Sleeper Cell Probe: ATS Investigates Online recruitment, honey-trap and crypto links

After yesterday’s arrest of a woman sleeper cell in Jaipur, allegedly connected with Jaish-e-Mohammed operative, investigation has widened, the Rajasthan ATS is now digging into the efforts being made by terrorists to recruit people, honey-trap and possibility of transaction via cryptocurrency. These new developments have emerged during the interrogation of alleged sleeper cell Babita Dhakad, converted to Khadija.

Investigation of the alleged sleeper cell so far

After the arrest, online radicalisation has become the centre of scanner. As per sources, investigations so far reveal that the woman was allegedly in touch with Pakistan-based handlers JeM for over 2 years now. Her digital footprints are being analysed to find if she underwent any online training. After the information of suicide attack spread, her online activities is under scanner, her mobile phone and other gadgets sent for forensic.

Social media used for interstate recruitment?

Currently an investigation is being done to find out if social media was used for communication with people from other states. It is being suspected that social media can be a possible medium through which young people are recruited. It is alleged that Babita could be recruited to run the honey-trap module. It is suspected that she was trained to come in contact with army personnel through social media and honey trap them. Currently investigation is being done if she has honey trapped any personnel or just made initial contacts. ATS is also investigating possible medium of fund transactions through Cryptocurrency. Sources revealed that the accused was allegedly in touch with the terror outfit for two years now.

Deleted message being recovered

Multiple mobile numbers have been found registered in her name, it has been found that she allegedly deleted pictures, chats, videos and other digital records. Forensic is trying to recover the records, chats, files, contacts and other activities. Officials said that the facts are based on leads, more details can only be known after interrogation.
