The declaration of the emergency was made at 11:29 PM IST, shortly before the aircraft’s scheduled landing time. The flight was expected to touch down at 11:37 PM, but the announcement prompted immediate preparations to secure a safe landing for the 224 passengers on board.

In response to the situation, emergency response teams were mobilised, and all necessary arrangements were put in place. These included the deployment of fire tenders and medical units, ready to assist if any complications arose during the landing process.

Successful Landing and Withdrawal of Emergency

IndiGo flight 6E-723 successfully landed on Runway 25 at 11:37 PM IST, which was a few minutes later than its scheduled time of 11:30 PM. The aircraft’s safe arrival was met with relief by the ground crew and emergency teams present at the airport.

Following the aircraft’s safe landing, the full emergency was officially withdrawn at 11:47 PM IST. All airport operations returned to normal shortly thereafter, as the authorities confirmed that there were no injuries or further complications.

Previous Incident Involving IndiGo Flight

This incident follows another emergency involving an IndiGo flight, which occurred last month when a flight from Dubai to Mumbai had to make an unscheduled landing at Rajkot Airport in Gujarat. This emergency was prompted by a warning indicating smoke in the aircraft’s lower cargo hold.

The flight crew acted swiftly, declaring an emergency and seeking priority clearance for landing from Air Traffic Control. Emergency responders, including fire and medical teams, were positioned at the airport to ensure safety during the landing.

After the successful landing at Rajkot, the immediate vicinity was assessed by safety personnel. Fortunately, the incident concluded without incident, similar to the recent situation in Chennai, highlighting the importance of effective emergency response protocols in aviation.
