In a series of intelligence-led operations spanning over 36 hours, security forces in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province reportedly killed more than 60 militants. The operations took place primarily in the North Waziristan and Bannu districts, areas known for militant activity. Security officials announced the results of these operations on Wednesday.

Operations in North Waziristan yielded significant results, with 52 militants, including four high-ranking commanders, reportedly neutralised. The campaign commenced early on Tuesday morning and employed a variety of techniques to identify and strike targeted locations.

In addition to North Waziristan, 10 militants were killed and 16 others injured during multiple operations in Bannu on Wednesday. This operational activity is reported to be part of an intensified security effort aimed at controlling the persistent threat of militancy in the region.

Methodologies and Technologies Used

Security forces maintained extensive surveillance over suspected locations in North Waziristan prior to executing their strikes. Surveillance drones, including quadcopters, were employed to pinpoint militants concealed in dense foliage. This technological advantage allowed security personnel to execute precise operations against their targets.

During these actions, not only were several militant hideouts destroyed, but a considerable cache of weapons, ammunition, and various military supplies was also seized. The armed forces reported that many wounded militants attempting to flee were likewise engaged and neutralised during the operations.

In Bannu, similar tactical approaches were adopted. Drones targeted militants believed to be hiding in various locations throughout the district. The operations were facilitated by a heightened security presence, which had already seen the elimination of two militants in an earlier intelligence-based operation near the Adnan Cricket Stadium in Jani Khel.

Civilian Safety Measures and Ongoing Operations

As part of the operational protocol, police revealed that some militants had allegedly taken refuge in an Islamic seminary. Security forces ensured the premises were cleared of civilians before launching their attacks to prevent collateral damage. After coming under fire, the forces successfully targeted the identified militants.

In Bannu, the ongoing operations led to the destruction of several hideouts, and a significant haul of weapons and ammunition was recovered. Search and clearance operations were carried out following the strikes to further consolidate security in the area.

Security officials have indicated that these operations will persist without interruption, reinforcing the commitment to eliminate terrorism from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The extensive efforts underline a strategic approach to combating the ongoing security challenges faced in these regions.
