Gujarat Enhances Preparations For CWG 2030, Says Deputy CM Harsh Sanghavi

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat, Harsh Sanghavi, recently declared that the state is intensifying its preparations for hosting the 2030 Commonwealth Games. The government is reportedly implementing a systematic plan aimed at enhancing world-class sports infrastructure throughout the region. Following his return to Ahmedabad Airport from an overseas trip, Sanghavi addressed the media regarding the government’s strategy to boost sports development.

During his statement, Sanghavi emphasised how the initiatives under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership have invigorated both sports and youth development across the nation. He noted that the Fit India Movement aims to make fitness a widespread concern, while the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan seeks to cultivate an informed and health-conscious youth by discouraging substance misuse.

Increased Funding and Support for Athletes

Sanghavi highlighted the noticeable increase in the budget for sports, which he claims has been raised eightfold, facilitating the advancement of modern sports facilities across the country. He stated that this financial support has enabled athletes to access superior training and facilities, positioning them to compete effectively on global platforms and bring honour to India.

Furthermore, he mentioned the close cooperation between the Central and Gujarat state governments, which is focused on providing young athletes with improved opportunities, contemporary facilities, and enhanced support. This collaborative effort is designed to ensure that athletes from Gujarat can achieve excellence on both national and international stages.

In his earlier comments to ANI, Sanghavi expressed confidence that India aims to build upon its recent achievements in sports and strive for success when Ahmedabad plays host to the Commonwealth Games in 2030. He congratulated the athletes on the occasion, reaffirming the government’s commitment towards fostering sports development in the state.

Future Prospects and Goals for CWG 2030

Sanghavi noted that the Gujarat government, guided by the central administration, is dedicated to creating ample opportunities in the sports sector for a significant number of athletes. He underscored the importance of the upcoming Commonwealth Games as a substantial opportunity, stating that Gujarat intends to set a benchmark in hosting the event.

The Deputy Chief Minister reiterated the significance of the Fit India initiative, asserting that it should be regarded not merely as a slogan but as an essential lifestyle choice promoted by the Prime Minister. He claimed that the tools and platforms provided to athletes, such as international-level training through the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS), have contributed to India’s commendable performance at the Commonwealth Games, where the nation secured the fourth position in the medal tally.

As Gujarat gears up for the 2030 Commonwealth Games, Sanghavi’s remarks indicate a strategic focus on enhancing competitive sports within the state. The government’s drive to invest significantly in sports infrastructure and athlete development reflects a broader vision for sporting excellence which aims to elevate India’s position on the international sporting stage.
