Satadru Dutta, who organized Lionel Messi’s GOAT tour event in Kolkata, has lodged a formal complaint against Arup Biswas, the former Sports Minister of West Bengal. The complaint, filed on Monday, encompasses various allegations including misconduct and irregularities related to ticket management. Dutta claims that tickets intended for the high-profile event were misappropriated and that he faced undue pressure regarding the issuance of access cards to the venue.

The Kolkata leg of Messi’s GOAT Tour was marred by incidents of unrest among fans at the Salt Lake Stadium. Following Messi’s premature departure from the event, frustrated attendees who had paid substantial amounts for tickets began expressing their dissatisfaction by throwing bottles and attempting to breach security barricades. Reports indicate that these actions culminated in acts of vandalism, as fans expressed their anger over poor event organization and the perceived preferential treatment given to VIP guests, which they believed overshadowed the experience for the general audience.

In an interview, Dutta implicated Biswas and other officials regarding security lapses and the unauthorized entry of individuals into the event. He articulated concerns over how some unauthorized attendees managed access to the venue despite his claims of controlling entry procedures. Allegations concerning the misuse of tickets were also outlined, prompting Dutta to assert that he received threats tied to the management of access to the event.

Further criticizing the police response during the chaotic situation, Dutta emphasized that he has initiated legal action seeking ₹50 crore in damages while also preparing to file for defamation. He underscored the necessity for an unbiased investigation into the irregularities and highlighted that the former minister had taken tickets from him, suggesting possible illicit resale activities.

Dutta articulated his grievances by stating, “I have come here to file the complaint against the Sports Minister and against his relatives, as well as concerning high-ranking government officials who were present at the venue.” He elaborated that despite his refusal to issue certain access cards, unauthorized individuals still managed to gain entry, raising significant queries about the overall security arrangements.”

He continued to mention the distress caused by the situation, confirming that he is pursuing legal steps not only to claim damages but also to clear his name from being unjustly scapegoated amidst the chaos of the event. Dutta reiterated his demands for a comprehensive and fair investigation, ensuring that the facts are thoroughly examined.
