The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) on Tuesday accused the Delhi Police of using excessive force against protesters during Monday’s march towards Parliament over the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak, claiming several students were assaulted and injured. The party also announced that its agitation would continue despite the violence.

The allegations came a day after clashes between protesters and police left more than 118 police personnel and around 60 protesters injured, according to official figures. Delhi Police has maintained that demonstrators attacked personnel with stones, attempted to breach barricades and damaged public property, and has registered FIRs in connection with the incident.

CJP Alleges Excessive Force by Police

CJP activist Abhijeet Dipke alleged that Delhi Police personnel used “brutality and cruelty” against student protesters during the march, claiming children and young demonstrators were assaulted.

“Yesterday we saw with what brutality and cruelty the Delhi Police beat the children. They cracked the heads of 12-year-old girls. And it was male police officers who did this,” Dipke told reporters.

He further alleged that a girl remained in critical condition at RML Hospital after being struck on the neck with a baton during the protest.

“There is a girl who is still in a critical condition at RML. The police hit her on the neck with a baton. She is critical because after being hit on the neck, she fell to the ground. Then the stampede happened. If anything happens to that girl, the Delhi Police and Narendra Modi’s government are responsible,” he said.

Dipke also claimed that police could have used water cannons instead of resorting to baton charges.

“If they wanted to stop the march, they could have used water cannons. They’re just children, after all. These were 17-18-year-old children. We had been sitting here peacefully for a month. Nothing went wrong. Yesterday, the first attack came from the Delhi Police. They used batons, and then a stampede broke out,” he alleged.

Claims of Planned Violence

Dipke questioned the presence of stones near the protest site, alleging that the violence had been planned in advance.

He claimed trucks carrying stones were present despite extensive security arrangements around Jantar Mantar and demanded an explanation from the Delhi Police.

Dipke also alleged that some people dressed in plain clothes had been given batons and were wearing Delhi Police uniforms after removing their name tags.

“The Delhi Police had planned and orchestrated this beforehand. Yesterday, they even gave batons to some people in plain clothes who weren’t police. Hooligans were dressed in Delhi Police uniforms yesterday. They beat the children after removing their name tags,” he alleged.

Protest to Continue, Says CJP

Referring to climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, who is undergoing treatment at Safdarjung Hospital, Dipke claimed Wangchuk had been persuaded to end his hunger strike but decided to continue after witnessing the police action.

“Yesterday Sonam Wangchuk was about to end his hunger strike. We convinced him with great difficulty. Yesterday was the 23rd day of his hunger strike. We said, ‘Sir, please break your strike; we can’t put your life in any more danger. Your life is too valuable for this country,'” Dipke said.

He added that the CJP would continue its agitation despite the clashes.

“We don’t want more children to get hurt. What do you want? More children’s heads to be cracked? Our protest will continue; we won’t back down,” he said.

Police Register FIRs After Violent Clashes

The protest was organised by the CJP over the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak and demands for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

According to Delhi Police, more than 118 police personnel were injured during the clashes, while around 60 protesters also sustained injuries. Police alleged that demonstrators pelted stones, attempted to breach barricades, vandalised police and government vehicles, and damaged public property.

FIRs have been registered against unidentified persons in connection with the alleged vandalism and stone-pelting in Connaught Place and Parliament Street.

Delegation Meets JP Nadda

A CJP delegation met Union Health Minister J P Nadda on Monday and submitted its demands, including the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, compensation of Rs 1 crore for the families of NEET aspirants who lost their lives, and the immediate release of Sonam Wangchuk.

CJP chief spokesperson Saurav Das said the protest would continue until Pradhan resigned. Nadda, who is also the Leader of the House in the Rajya Sabha, said the government had received a proposal from the protesters for talks and appealed to them to end their sit-in.

Dipke also alleged that members of the CJP delegation were prevented from leaving Nadda’s residence during the meeting.

“After calling them there, their mobiles were confiscated. Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das were essentially put under house arrest at JP Nadda’s house. They weren’t allowed to leave. The whole plan was to scatter their team, to leave me here all alone, so that there would be no one to face the chaos that followed,” he alleged.
