Bezos’ Prometheus Valued at $41 Billion After Massive Series B Raise

The CSR Journal Magazine

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has officially unveiled his artificial intelligence startup Prometheus, bringing the venture out of stealth mode with a massive $12 billion Series B funding round that values the company at $41 billion.

The company, previously known as Project Prometheus, was founded by Bezos and former Google executive Vik Bajaj, who serve as co-chief executives. Prometheus reportedly launched in November 2025 with an initial funding pool of $6.2 billion.

The latest investment round attracted major financial institutions, including JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs and BlackRock, with Bezos himself also participating.

According to the billionaire entrepreneur, Prometheus is focused on developing advanced AI tools aimed at dramatically reducing the time required to design and manufacture physical products.

Speaking to CNBC, Bezos described the company’s work as “quite remarkable” but said it was too early to reveal details about the technology.

AI Tools Designed To Accelerate Innovation

Bezos said engineering complex products often involves lengthy development cycles due to the enormous level of technical complexity involved.

Speaking to Axios, he cited jet engines as an example, noting that increasing thrust by just 10 per cent could traditionally take as long as a decade.

He said Prometheus aims to compress those timelines by creating AI-powered tools capable of making the design-build cycle ten times faster or even more.

Reports suggest the company’s technologies could eventually be applied across multiple industries, including engineering, manufacturing, drug discovery, medical devices and consumer electronics.

Prometheus currently employs around 150 people and operates from offices in San Francisco, London and Zurich. The startup has reportedly attracted talent from leading artificial intelligence firms and chipmakers, including OpenAI, Google DeepMind and Nvidia.

Massive Computing Needs Driving Fundraising

Bezos acknowledged that one of the key reasons behind the substantial fundraising effort was the enormous amount of computing power required for the company’s work.

He explained that Prometheus’ technologies are highly compute-intensive and require extensive data generation, making access to powerful data centres and servers essential.

Compute infrastructure has emerged as one of the most critical resources in the global AI race, powering large language models and other advanced systems.

Although Prometheus has not disclosed exactly how it intends to use the computing resources, Bezos hinted that Amazon could eventually become one of the startup’s customers because of its cloud infrastructure capabilities and the ongoing shortage of compute capacity.

Blue Origin Seen As Potential Customer

Bezos also described his aerospace company, Blue Origin, as a potential customer and a case study for the startup’s products.

However, he and Bajaj emphasised that Prometheus operates independently and has no corporate ties to either Amazon or Blue Origin.

According to the two executives, the company was intentionally structured as a separate organisation with a dedicated team solely focused on its mission.

Since stepping down as Amazon’s chief executive in 2021, Bezos has devoted much of his attention to Blue Origin while also expanding his investments in artificial intelligence. He has backed robotics and AI ventures such as Physical Intelligence and Generalist AI while continuing to serve as executive chairman of Amazon.

Bezos also said Blue Origin expects its New Glenn rocket programme to return to flight before the end of the year, following a static-fire test explosion at a launch facility in Cape Canaveral, Florida, last month.

The launch of Prometheus marks Bezos’ most ambitious move yet into the rapidly evolving AI industry, placing him in direct competition with some of the world’s biggest technology companies and startups seeking to reshape engineering and manufacturing through artificial intelligence.
