AI-Generated Videos Must Be Cleared by Tamil Development Department, Says Minister Rajmohan

The CSR Journal Magazine

Tamil Nadu School Education Minister Rajmohan on Thursday announced that all videos, graphics and audio content created using artificial intelligence would be subjected to mandatory scrutiny by the Tamil Development Department before being released, following errors found in promotional material prepared for the Singappenne Scheme.

Speaking to reporters after inaugurating the Government Exhibition at the VOC Grounds in Coimbatore, the minister described the mistakes in the AI-generated content as technical glitches and said the government would adopt stricter verification mechanisms in the future.

He said any content produced using artificial intelligence would only be released after undergoing proper review and consultation with the Tamil Development Department.

Awards, School Fees And RTE Scheme Discussed

Rajmohan also announced that pending awards under the Tamil Development Department would soon be distributed after consultations with Chief Minister Vijay Joseph.

He appealed to government transport employees to show greater courtesy and respect towards senior Tamil scholars and students.

Addressing issues concerning private schools, the minister said licensing and renewal procedures had been simplified through a single-window system, removing the need for unofficial payments.

He urged private schools to make their fee structures transparent and collect only reasonable charges from students.

The minister emphasised that since the government bears a substantial share of fees for students admitted under the Right to Education Act, private institutions should extend full cooperation in implementing the scheme.

Focus On Student Safety And Transport

Expressing grief over the death of government school students in a road accident near Mannargudi, Rajmohan said the state would intensify efforts to improve safety around educational institutions.

He said authorities would work in coordination with police personnel and volunteers to prevent traffic congestion near schools and ensure safer conditions for students.

The minister added that the quality and safety certifications of private school buses are being monitored continuously and special transport arrangements have been made for students residing in remote and hilly regions.

According to Rajmohan, schools across the state were permitted to reopen for the new academic year only after ensuring the availability of safe toilet facilities and adequate drinking water.

Government Reaffirms Two-Language Policy

On journalists’ welfare, the minister said accreditation cards are being issued through a streamlined process without political interference and added that the allotment of house-site pattas for media personnel is being expedited.

Reiterating the state’s two-language policy, Rajmohan said there had been no change in the government’s position.

He remarked that Tamil was essential for communication within families and society, while English was necessary for interacting with the wider world.

Clarifying that English-medium education would not be imposed on anyone, the minister said Tamil remained the government’s cultural foundation and reaffirmed its commitment to the principle that all human beings are equal by birth.

Earlier in the day, Rajmohan and Backward Classes Welfare Minister Sampath Kumar inaugurated the Government Exhibition at the VOC Grounds and distributed welfare assistance, e-pattas and medical equipment worth nearly Rs 4 crore to beneficiaries.

Referring to reports that a young boy had allegedly been removed from the exhibition premises, Rajmohan condemned the incident and said officials had been instructed to treat everyone equally and with dignity, irrespective of their background.
