Weather Conditions In Southern India

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a weather bulletin on April 23, which indicates that Southern India is currently experiencing volatile weather patterns. These include scattered thunderstorms and heightened heat stress across various states.

According to the IMD, heat wave conditions are expected in isolated areas of Keralam on April 23 and 24. The forecast suggests that hot and humid weather will persist in certain regions of Tamil Nadu, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Coastal Karnataka until April 27. Residents in these areas have been advised to exercise caution and to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun.

The IMD has recommended that individuals in the affected regions stay well-hydrated and consume oral rehydration solutions (ORS) or homemade drinks such as lassi and buttermilk to manage health in the heat.

Forecast For Keralam And Surrounding Areas

The IMD predicts a mix of isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall, along with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds expected to reach speeds of 30 to 50 km/h from April 23 to 27 across Keralam, Mahe, and Karnataka.

Similar weather conditions are forecasted for Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam until April 25. Additionally, regions such as Rayalaseema and Telangana are likely to experience these weather patterns on April 23 and 24. The IMD has also issued warnings for lightning activity in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal during the first 48 hours of the weather prediction period.
