Teejan Bai, a celebrated exponent of Pandavani and recipient of the Padma Vibhushan, passed away at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Raipur on Sunday. She was 70 years old at the time of her death, which occurred at 3.15 am while she was undergoing treatment. Bai had been hospitalised since May 27 due to a prolonged illness, as confirmed by doctors to PTI.

Teejan Bai was widely recognised as the foremost practitioner of Pandavani, a traditional folk storytelling form originating from Chhattisgarh that draws its narratives from the Mahabharata.
