Swiss International Airlines Launches Nonstop Bengaluru-Zurich Flights from October

The CSR Journal Magazine

Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) has announced the initiation of nonstop flights between Bengaluru and Zurich, beginning in October 2026. This new service aims to strengthen connections between Switzerland and Bengaluru, a prominent hub for technology and innovation in India. The airline’s latest route will operate five times a week, significantly improving travel options for passengers.

The eastbound LX 140 service will depart Zurich daily, excluding Mondays and Wednesdays, at 13:20. It is expected to arrive in Bengaluru approximately nine hours later at 02:55 the next day. Conversely, the westbound LX 141 flight will take off from Bengaluru daily, except Tuesdays and Thursdays, at 04:50, landing in Zurich by 10:50 the same day.

Bengaluru’s addition to SWISS’ flight network underscores the airline’s commitment to expanding its footprint in key growth markets. The route has been designed to cater to the increasing demand from business travellers, the technology sector, and leisure customers, alongside the expanding Indian community in Europe and beyond.

Significance of the New Route

According to Kevin Markette, Senior Director of Regional Sales South Asia for the Lufthansa Group, the Indian market holds strategic importance for the organisation. He expressed enthusiasm about SWISS entering Bengaluru, marking it as the third gateway in the region for the Lufthansa Group, alongside Frankfurt and Munich. The new flights are intended to significantly improve connectivity for southern Indian travellers.

Markette emphasised that passengers will have access to an exceptional Swiss travel experience, which includes First Class services on every flight. Connections through the Zurich hub will allow travellers seamless access to various destinations in Europe and North America.

The new service will feature SWISS’ renowned onboard amenities, comprising First, Business, and Economy Class options, premium lounges, high-quality Swiss cuisine, and efficient transfer possibilities through Zurich Airport.

Reactions from Airport Officials

Girish Nair, Chief Operating Officer of Bangalore International Airport Limited, remarked that the introduction of SWISS’ direct service between Bengaluru and Zurich validates the market maturity and long-term potential of Bengaluru as a travel destination. He noted that the nonstop flights will address growing demands from corporate and leisure sectors, linking one of India’s leading technology hubs with a significant financial centre.

Nair further highlighted that the new service will be supported by the extensive domestic network of Bengaluru Airport, covering 78 destinations. This will facilitate efficient single-ticket transfers for passengers travelling from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities across India.

With the launch of this route, passengers are expected to benefit from enhanced travel options and better connectivity, contributing positively to both tourism and business engagements. The commencement of these flights marks a significant step in the collaboration between Indian and Swiss aviation sectors.
