Six individuals lost their lives and at least 39 others sustained injuries when a tractor-trolley overturned in Madhya Pradesh. The tragic incident occurred on Saturday in Ginjri village, located in the Anuppur district, while approximately 50 passengers were en route from Padaniya village to Bijora village for a religious ceremony.

The chaos unfolded when the tractor-trolley allegedly lost control and overturned close to a temple dedicated to Lord Shani. Eyewitness reports described the scene as harrowing, with several passengers trapped beneath the overturned vehicle.

Local authorities quickly responded to the accident, dispatching police officials to the scene to initiate relief and rescue operations. The quick action of local residents helped to extricate some individuals who were trapped. As soon as the injured were assessed, they were promptly transported to the Pali Community Health Centre for medical attention.

Casualties and Medical Response

Upon arrival at the health centre, medical personnel began treating the injured. Among the victims, a total of fifteen individuals were reported to be critically injured and subsequently referred to the district hospital for more advanced care.

The critical nature of injuries sustained by some passengers necessitated immediate medical intervention, highlighting the urgency of the situation. Families of those involved were also notified to ensure they received timely updates regarding the status of their loved ones.

The police have initiated a thorough investigation into the accident to determine the underlying causes that led to the vehicle overturning. The inquiry aims to provide clarity about the incident and to prevent future tragedies of a similar nature.

Government Response and Assistance

In light of the tragic event, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed his condolences to the victims’ families. He directed officials to furnish financial assistance amounting to Rs 4 lakh for each family that has lost a member in this unfortunate incident.

The Chief Minister also emphasised the importance of ensuring that adequate medical care is provided for those injured in the accident. His statements reflect a commitment from the state authorities to support the affected families and facilitate their needs during this difficult time.

As the investigation continues, state officials are also reviewing safety protocols surrounding passenger transport in the region. This incident has raised concerns about the safety measures in place for similar transportation methods, particularly during events where large groups travel together.
