Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Assembly Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar gathered in Bhopal to commemorate the birth anniversary of Gulsher Ahmed, a former Assembly Speaker. During the event, CM Yadav expressed his admiration for Ahmed’s contributions to the state’s democratic traditions.

CM Yadav referred to Gulsher Ahmed as a freedom fighter and a prominent Congress leader, emphasising his values of simplicity, humility, and inclusiveness. The Chief Minister articulated that the manner in which legislative proceedings were managed during Ahmed’s tenure continues to inspire many today.

In his remarks, CM Yadav highlighted the significance of such commemorative events, complimenting Speaker Tomar for establishing a tradition of honouring former Speakers and Chief Ministers in the state assembly. “This tradition allows us to recognise their invaluable legacies,” he noted.

Speaker Tomar Recalls Ahmed’s Political Journey

Assembly Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar also paid his respects and reflected on the extensive political career of Gulsher Ahmed. He mentioned that Ahmed not only served as an influential Congress leader but also held multiple significant positions throughout his career.

“Gulsher Ahmed was a dedicated member of the Congress party and took on various roles, especially in the cooperative sector,” Tomar stated. He further pointed out that Ahmed’s achievements included his terms as an MLA, Deputy Minister, and Minister within the state government, as well as serving in both the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha. In addition, he held the position of Governor of Himachal Pradesh.

Tomar expressed that Gulsher Ahmed’s legacy serves as a guiding light for current and future legislators. He urged attendees to seek inspiration from Ahmed’s principles of dedication and moral integrity as they work to uphold the dignity of the Legislative Assembly.
