A 65-year-old retired Army personnel was found dead at his home in Rajasthan’s Anupgarh, with police recovering an eight-page suicide note in which he alleged prolonged harassment by three individuals. The note also accused one of the individuals of being a Pakistani spy, claims that police said would be thoroughly verified during the investigation.

Police said Amar Singh died by suicide on Saturday after allegedly hanging himself at his residence. His body was sent for post-mortem and handed over to his family on Sunday after the examination.

Suicide Note Alleges Harassment and Espionage

According to police, Amar Singh alleged in the suicide note that he had been subjected to sustained mental harassment by three individuals over a prolonged period.

He claimed that one of them repeatedly sought information related to the Indian Army and military activities. Describing the person as a Pakistani spy, Amar Singh wrote that he would never betray the country and would rather sacrifice his life than disclose confidential military information.

In the final page of the note, he appealed to the police to take strict action against those he believed were responsible for his death.

Amar Singh also alleged that he feared being abducted by the accused to extract sensitive information about the Army. He wrote that this fear, coupled with continued mental pressure, drove him to take the extreme step.

Police Say Claims Will Be Verified

Station House Officer Kartar Singh said the case was being investigated from all possible angles and described it as sensitive.

He said it would be premature to comment on the allegations contained in the suicide note before the investigation is completed.

According to the officer, all claims made in the note, including the allegations of espionage and harassment, will be examined as part of the ongoing probe.

Former Councillor Recalls Distress Call

Former councillor Paramjeet Kaur, whom Amar Singh described as his sister in the suicide note, said he had contacted her three days before his death to complain about persistent harassment.

She alleged that Amar Singh appeared to be under severe mental stress due to threatening phone calls from certain individuals.

Police are continuing their investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding Amar Singh’s death and to verify the allegations made in the suicide note.
