Palaash Muchhal Disables Instagram Comments After Smriti’s Friend Files Case

The CSR Journal Magazine

Palaash Muchhal, a music composer and filmmaker, disabled the comments section of his Instagram post following reports of a case filed against him under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The information regarding the legal action emerged during his visit to the Khatu Shyam temple on Wednesday, where he shared photographs showing him engaged in prayer and reverence towards the deity.

The decision to turn off comments on his post coincided with the public disclosure of the complaint. Muchhal captioned his temple visit photos with, “Jahan sir jhuka, wahan sukoon mila,” and acknowledged the deities, Khatu Shyam Ji, Salasar Balaji, and Jeevan Mata Ji.

This temple visit attracted attention, particularly given the ongoing legal developments surrounding him. Muchhal’s actions were scrutinised as they came during a sensitive period in his personal life.

Details of the Complaint

The complaint has been lodged by Vidnyan Prakash Mane, a resident of Sangli and a childhood friend of cricketer Smriti Mandhana. The alleged incident took place on November 22 at a toll plaza on the Sangli-Ashta road, where Mane claims that Muchhal made derogatory comments regarding caste during an argument.

As a result of Mane’s allegations, police officially registered a case under Section 3(1) of the SCST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, as well as under Sections 351(2) and 352. The investigation into the matter is currently underway.

Muchhal has not publicly responded specifically to this case as of yet, but the situation continues to develop.
