Bihar Woman and Lover Arrested for Husband’s Murder

The CSR Journal Magazine

A woman and her lover in Buxar, Bihar, have been apprehended for allegedly murdering her husband, Virendra Singh, and discarding his body in a canal. This grave incident has reportedly shocked the local community. Virendra, a family man, was living with his wife, Mamta Devi, and their three children, including one son and two daughters. Reports suggest that Virendra’s friendship with Arvind Kumar Singh, a villager from the same area, led to the latter frequently visiting their home.

As these visits became more common, it is alleged that an extramarital relationship developed between Mamta and Arvind. Officials indicated that as this relationship progressed, Virendra increasingly became an obstacle for the couple. It is claimed that they subsequently conspired to eliminate him from their lives.

Details of the Murder

It is alleged that Virendra Singh was asleep when his wife and her lover attacked him with a “gadasi”, a sharp agricultural tool. Investigators suggest that the attack was brutal and premeditated. Following the commission of the act, the accused devised a plan to conceal the murder.

In an attempt to prevent the identification of the body, the pair reportedly stripped Virendra of all his clothes and disposed of his naked body in a major canal. The intention behind this action was to allow the body to drift away and become unrecognisable. Unfortunately for the accused, the plan fell apart when the body surfaced in the Kalmanpur village area of Dumraon, having floated from the Rohtas district into Buxar.

The discovery of a naked corpse in the canal caught the attention of local residents, who promptly alerted the police. Upon their arrival, officers retrieved the body and initiated efforts to ascertain its identity. Family members were soon summoned to the location, and they confirmed that the deceased was indeed Virendra Singh, a resident of Karakat.

Investigation and Arrests

Based on information provided by Virendra’s brother, Jitendra Singh, the police formally registered a case and began a thorough investigation. During their probe, detectives examined digital records and location data to track down potential suspects. This analysis ultimately led to the identification and arrest of Mamta Devi and Arvind Kumar Singh.

During interrogations, the police reported that both accused admitted to the murder, attributing their actions to the ongoing love affair. The evidence gathered suggested that they had not only plotted the murder but had also executed it together. Consequently, the investigation confirmed their involvement in the crime.

After completing their inquiries, the Buxar Police designated both Mamta Devi and Arvind Kumar Singh to judicial custody, as the case continues to unfold. Community members have reacted with concern about the violent nature of the incident, reflecting broader issues surrounding domestic relationships and societal pressures.
