Hyderabad IPS Trainee Booked on Harassment and Assault Allegations

The CSR Journal Magazine

An IPS officer trainee at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) in Hyderabad has been booked due to allegations of sexual harassment, assault, and criminal intimidation. This action follows a complaint lodged by a fellow trainee, marking a significant step in response to serious accusations within the academy.

The FIR was filed by Attapur Police on July 18, 2026, identifying the accused as Uday Krishna Reddy, also an IPS officer trainee. The complaint originated from a 30-year-old female trainee who has described a pattern of harassment that allegedly began on June 23.

According to the initial complaint, Reddy allegedly sent sexually abusive messages through WhatsApp and made derogatory remarks about the complainant in the presence of other trainees. Furthermore, he reportedly accused her of maintaining an inappropriate relationship with another trainee, exerting pressure on her to admit to these unfounded claims.

Description of Alleged Incidents

The complainant detailed a series of troubling incidents that reportedly escalated over the following weeks. On July 8, she alleged that Reddy took her mobile phone to his room and coerced her into revealing its password. This act raised concerns about his intentions and created an atmosphere of fear for the complainant.

Subsequently, on July 9 at approximately 9 pm, the complainant stated that Reddy wrongfully restrained her and forcibly took her to his room. During this encounter, she claimed he used physical aggression by gripping her hair and attempting to strangle her. Allegedly, he also held a knife to her neck and prevented her from leaving the room, indicating a severe level of intimidation.

The situation reportedly became more concerning, with the complainant asserting that Reddy threw three packets of condoms at her during this altercation. The FIR further details an incident on July 10, where the complainant alleged that Reddy assaulted her once again, attempting to touch her inappropriately and secretly recording a video of her without consent.

Legal Proceedings and Ongoing Investigation

The investigation will seek to gather further evidence and testimonies as authorities work to assess the credibility of the allegations and the circumstances surrounding the incidents described in the complaint. Further developments in this case are awaited as the police continue to pursue their inquiries.

There has been no official statement from Uday Krishna Reddy regarding the allegations as of yet. In high-profile cases such as this, the implications are significant, not only for the individuals involved but also for the reputation of the institution and the integrity of the police service.
