The CSR Journal Magazine

A woman from Hyderabad has reportedly deceived her parents by claiming she was merely stepping out, only to board a flight to Delhi. Disha Sharma took this journey to participate in a protest at Jantar Mantar, intending to rally against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CJP) issues. She embarked on her trip with a bag full of medicines for fellow activists, showcasing her commitment to the cause while confronting significant uncertainties.

Before departing, Disha shared her feelings of anxiety in an Instagram video, candidly revealing her fear of travelling alone. “Hi guys, I just told my parents I am going out. I am taking a flight from Hyderabad to Delhi and I am damn scared,” she said. This admission of vulnerability resonated with many, leading to an increased interest in her mission.

Support and Solidarity from Social Media

Disha’s intentions and her journey soon caught the attention of various social media users. One post, shared on X, highlighted her situation with a supportive caption urging residents of Delhi to assist her upon arrival. The user expressed confidence in Disha’s abilities, stating, “Please help her Dear Delhi, if you see her. Even I think, she will be okay. You go girl!!” This expression of solidarity underscores the growing support for individuals engaged in activism.

Filmmaker Vinod Kapri noticed Disha’s situation and extended a warm invitation for her to stay at his home in Noida. He offered his assistance, emphasising, “Treat my home in Delhi as your home. If you need anything at all, just DM me here on X.” Kapri shared a personal connection to Hyderabad, being born there, and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting students who arrive in Delhi with hopes and ideals.

Disha’s Continued Engagement at the Protest Site

Upon her arrival in Delhi, Disha continued to update her followers regarding her experiences at Jantar Mantar. She reported spending the night at the protest site alongside other demonstrators. Her decision to participate actively in the protest illustrates her dedication to advocating for the CJP issue and supporting fellow students gathering under this cause.

The protests at Jantar Mantar have reportedly been ongoing, with students from numerous states converging at the location. Demonstrators have been vocal in their demands for action regarding the CJP legislation. As videos circulated on various social media platforms, they have garnered attention and support from across the country, highlighting the widespread concern over this contentious issue.

As Disha prepares to return home post-protest, her journey has come to symbolize the spirit of activism among the youth in India.
