Haryana Government Transfers Over 40 HPS Officers in Major Police Reshuffle

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Haryana Government has announced a major restructuring of the police administration, involving the transfer and posting of more than 40 Haryana Police Service (HPS) officers. This move, effective immediately, aims to enhance law enforcement capabilities and improve overall administrative efficiency across the state. The order was issued by the Home Department with the Governor’s approval.

The reshuffle predominantly affects various ranks, including Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) and Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs), across critical districts such as Gurugram, Faridabad, Panipat, Rohtak, Nuh, and Karnal. Among the notable changes, Pranay Kumar has been assigned to serve as ACP in Gurugram, Harvinder Singh has taken up a position in Shahabad, and Surinder Kaur has been transferred to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).

Other key appointments include Siddharth, who has been posted in Panipat, Ramesh Chander assigned to the 2nd Battalion, Haryana Armed Police (HAP) in Madhuban, and Ravi Khundia, who is now also with the ACB. These appointments mark a significant reshuffling aimed at enhancing operational efficiency within the police force.

Focus on Vigilance and Investigative Strengths

The latest officer transfers underscore an enhanced focus on establishing robust vigilance and investigative arms within the police force. Several officers, such as Mukesh Kumar, Sandeep Sharma, Abhilaksh Joshi, and Munish Sehgal, have been assigned to units within the State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau. This indicates a strategic approach to strengthening oversight and investigation capabilities across the state.

Additionally, Aman Yadav and Kapil Ahlawat have been posted to the Crime Investigation Department (CID). This move aims to bolster intelligence-driven policing, which is deemed essential in addressing the challenges posed by urban crime and other criminal activities within Haryana.

The Gurugram-Faridabad area has received particular attention in this reshuffle, highlighting the importance of urban policing. Key appointments in this region include Vipin Kadian as ACP Ballabgarh, Sandeep Sharma as ACP Mujesar in Faridabad, and Priyanshu Dewan as ACP Gurugram. The government has made additional appointments of Dr. Kavita, Jai Singh, and Surender Singh as ACPs in Gurugram, thereby strengthening the leadership framework in urban policing.

Enhanced Training and Operational Readiness

The government has also addressed training needs and operational readiness through several new postings. Ashok Kumar has been assigned to the Haryana Police Academy in Madhuban, while Hardeep Singh will be stationed at the Police Training Centre in Sunaria, Rohtak. This indicates a commitment to developing the skills necessary for effective policing.

Numerous officers have been positioned within various battalions, including the Internal Security Battalion (IRB) and the Haryana Armed Police, to ensure that they are ready for operational demands. The official order indicates that several of these postings have filled previously vacant positions while others are designated to replace transferred officers.

The extensive reshuffle has been approved by Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Sudhir Rajpal, IAS, and the order has been disseminated to senior officers, including the Director General of Police and heads of various units for immediate implementation. The move is viewed as an effort to enhance accountability within the police force, improve standards of policing, and effectively address emerging challenges in the state’s law enforcement landscape.
