The CSR Journal Magazine

A 28-year-old man reportedly killed his wife in the Ranhola area of Delhi on July 2. The incident unfolded after the man, identified as Vinay, allegedly attacked his wife, Nisha, aged 24, with an Exide battery due to suspicions regarding her interactions with someone over the phone. The authorities were alerted to the situation following a PCR call regarding an attempted murder at Tilangpur Kotla village.

Investigations are ongoing, as police gathered details from witnesses and family members. Vinay reportedly struck Nisha on the head during a dispute arising from his allegations of infidelity. This violent act led to Nisha sustaining severe head injuries, which were critical at the time she was found.

Following the incident, Vinay allegedly consumed aluminium phosphide, a pesticide, before taking their three-year-old daughter to his mother’s rented accommodations. It was here that he confessed to his sister, Priya, about the murder and his subsequent act of poisoning himself.

Response from Authorities

Police detailed the sequence of events that followed the confession. Priya went to the couple’s home and found Nisha lying in a pool of blood. She immediately alerted neighbours, who then notified law enforcement. Officers arrived promptly at the scene, where they discovered Nisha in a critical state.

Emergency responders transported Nisha to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital, but she was declared brought dead upon arrival. In a parallel response, Vinay was also taken to the same hospital, where medical personnel later pronounced him dead. The fatalities raised serious concerns in the local community regarding domestic violence and mental health issues.

Police conducted post-mortem examinations on both individuals, and the bodies were handed over to their families for last rites. The manner of the tragic events has left a significant impact on those who knew the couple, as well as within the broader community.

Legal Proceedings Initiated

The police have initiated legal proceedings by registering a case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which pertains to murder. This step marks the beginning of a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Authorities are focusing on various aspects, including any potential history of domestic disputes between the couple.

Preliminary findings indicate that Vinay and Nisha had been married for approximately five years. They had lived together as tenants in the area for six or seven months with their young daughter. The family dynamics and underlying issues leading to this unfortunate event are being examined closely by investigators.

As the investigation continues, police are emphasising the importance of addressing cases of suspected domestic violence and support for mental health challenges. The local community is urged to be vigilant regarding these issues, and authorities are committed to bringing transparency to the case.
