A 28-year-old Indian Army jawan has been apprehended for the alleged murder of his seven-month-pregnant wife at their residence in the Washim district of Maharashtra. The accused, identified as Dnyaneshwar Madne, is a member of the Army’s 6 Maratha Battalion. The police initiated a murder investigation following a complaint lodged by the victim’s family.

Reports indicate that the incident occurred on a Thursday afternoon. Dnyaneshwar Madne allegedly contacted his wife’s family around 3 pm, informing them that Dipali had suffered a fall and was in hospital. Dipali’s family, residing in Burhanpur district of neighbouring Madhya Pradesh, promptly travelled to Washim and arrived at approximately 7 pm.

Officials have revealed that the accused was scheduled to depart for Jammu and Kashmir the following day. Investigators suspect that a quarrel ensued between the couple, during which he allegedly strangled his wife. Following the incident, he reportedly transported her to a private hospital in an ambulance, but the medical staff there referred her case to a government hospital.

Suspicion and Investigation

Upon examination at the government facility, doctors noted signs of foul play and immediately alerted the police. Senior police officer Manish Thakre stated that a memo was received indicating that a woman’s body had arrived at the hospital via ambulance. Thakre observed that clear injury marks were present on the woman’s neck, prompting further investigation.

Based on the information provided by the victim’s brother, Rahul Mane, the police registered a murder case against Dnyaneshwar Madne and his parents. The investigation has since led to the suspect’s arrest as police continue to delve into the details surrounding the allegations.

Additionally, the victim’s brother has alleged that Madne was engaged in an extra-marital affair, which had reportedly led to persistent harassment of his sister. He claims that the disputes between the couple intensified over the past few months, compelling both families to convene for discussions to reconcile their differences.

Family Concerns and Allegations

The victim’s family had previously attempted to resolve the conflicts arising from the accused’s alleged behaviour. Despite the initial efforts to settle the matter, it is reported that the harassment did not cease and continued to affect their relationship.

The police are collecting evidence to ascertain the full circumstances surrounding the tragic event. They have announced that the thorough investigation will look into any additional claims made regarding the couple’s relationship dynamics.

As the case unfolds, authorities are emphasizing the importance of gathering comprehensive statements and physical evidence to ensure a fair judicial process. The events leading up to the woman’s death are under scrutiny as investigators aim to provide clarity to the family and the public.
